Headlight & Taillight Replacement in Georgetown

ASE-Certified Lighting Service for Georgetown & Round Rock Drivers

When a headlight dims or a taillight stops working, the fix needs to be right, not just fast. At Christian Brothers Automotive Westinghouse Road, our ASE-certified technicians handle every aspect of headlight and taillight replacement using manufacturer-quality equipment, and our owner/operators are on-site at our Westinghouse Road location every day. We serve Georgetown drivers and the surrounding Williamson County area, including Round Rock.

Under Texas Transportation Code Chapter 547, functioning headlights and taillights are required on every vehicle on a public road. That requirement doesn’t change with inspection status. If a light is out, it’s a legal issue and a safety issue.

Schedule your lighting service online or call us at (512) 812-9468. Our complimentary shuttle service means you don’t have to rearrange your day to get it done.

Headlight Problems We Diagnose & Repair

Not every headlight problem is a burned-out bulb. Cloudy or yellowed lenses, common after years of UV exposure, can cut beam output significantly before a bulb ever fails. Flickering lights may point to a loose connection, a failing bulb, or a fault elsewhere in the electrical circuit. Moisture inside a headlight housing looks minor, but can damage bulb sockets and internal components over time if it isn’t addressed.

Our technicians evaluate bulbs, lenses, housings, and the wiring circuit before recommending any parts. If the job calls for a bulb swap and nothing more, that’s what we’ll tell you. Modern vehicles often use sealed assemblies, separate low- and high-beam bulbs, or LED and HID systems that require different handling than standard halogen units. We can explain exactly what your vehicle uses and what your replacement options are.

Taillight & Rear Lighting Inspection

Rear lighting failures are often noticed by someone else first: another driver, a passenger, or a law enforcement officer. Cracked lenses let water into the housing, corroded bulb holders affect reliability, and a faulty brake light switch can make your brake lights unpredictable to the drivers behind you. Texas Transportation Code Section 547.323 requires at least two functioning tail lamps emitting red light visible from 1,000 feet to the rear.

We inspect the complete tail light assembly, including bulbs, lenses, fuses, and wiring connections. Every lighting function is tested, including brake lights and turn signals. We review our findings with you before any work is approved, and you decide what moves forward.

Our Headlight & Taillight Replacement Process

Every lighting service at Christian Brothers Automotive Westinghouse Road starts with a conversation. We ask about what you’ve noticed: whether it’s a dim beam, a warning light, or a complete outage. This helps our technicians know where to begin. From there, the process is straightforward and transparent at every step.

Our technicians inspect bulbs, lenses, housings, and wiring connectors to identify the actual cause before recommending any parts. Once the inspection is complete, you receive a written report with findings and an estimate. Nothing proceeds until you approve the plan. After installation, we test the circuit to verify voltage and fuse integrity, then perform a final illumination check. Headlight beam alignment is verified after installation to confirm the lights aim correctly and won’t create glare for oncoming drivers.

Many standard replacements can be completed the same day. LED and HID installations typically require additional time for alignment and testing. Our complimentary shuttle service is available throughout your visit, so you’re not waiting around.

Halogen, LED & HID: What’s in Your Headlights

Bulb type affects how a replacement is handled. Halogen bulbs are the most common and the most straightforward to replace. LED headlights last longer and draw less power than halogen, but they often require specific installation steps and post-installation alignment to work correctly. HID/Xenon bulbs produce a bright white light and rely on a ballast to operate, so replacement involves more than a simple bulb swap.

Some modern vehicles use sealed headlight assemblies where the entire unit must be replaced rather than just the bulb. Upgrading to LED also requires confirming compatibility with the vehicle’s electrical system to prevent flickering or error codes. Our ASE-certified technicians are trained to handle all of these lighting assembly types and can walk you through what applies to your vehicle before any work begins.

Texas Lighting Law & What It Means for Georgetown Drivers

As of January 1, 2025, Texas eliminated mandatory annual safety inspections for most non-commercial personal vehicles. Williamson County, where Georgetown is located, isn’t an emissions-required county, so most Georgetown personal vehicle drivers are no longer required to visit an inspection station annually. That change doesn’t affect your legal obligation to maintain working lights.

Texas Transportation Code Section 547.321 requires functioning headlamps on all motor vehicles. Section 547.323 requires at least two functioning tail lamps emitting red light visible from 1,000 feet to the rear. Driving with a light out is a violation of Chapter 547 and can result in a traffic stop or citation, regardless of whether your vehicle is otherwise current on any registration requirement. Commercial vehicles in Texas still require annual safety inspections in all counties.
