What Triggers a Check Engine Light
The check engine light can come on for dozens of reasons, ranging from something as simple as a loose gas cap to more involved issues like a failing catalytic converter, oxygen sensor malfunction, failing mass airflow sensor, damaged spark plugs or wires, an EGR valve issue, or a vacuum leak in the evaporative emissions system.
