The Nice Difference® Warranty
Every exhaust system repair we perform is backed by the Nice Difference® Warranty: 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever limit comes last. Most automotive repair warranties expire at the first of the two limits, cutting your coverage short. Ours works the other way. It covers parts and labor, protecting you against defects in new parts and improper installation. And because it’s honored at any Christian Brothers Automotive location nationwide, you’re covered wherever you drive.
Signs Your Exhaust System Needs Attention
Your vehicle usually gives you warning before an exhaust problem becomes serious. Watch for these symptoms:
- Loud or unusual noises: thumping, growling, or banging sounds while driving often point to a damaged muffler or loose exhaust component.
- Gasoline odors in the cabin: a smell inside the car can indicate an exhaust leak, which is a carbon monoxide safety concern that warrants prompt inspection.
- Decreased power or acceleration: a compromised exhaust system can rob the engine of performance.
- Reduced fuel efficiency: when the exhaust system isn’t functioning properly, the engine works harder than it should.
- Visible rust or a dangling muffler: physical damage you can see is a clear sign repairs are overdue.
- Illuminated check engine light: exhaust issues, including a failing catalytic converter or faulty oxygen sensor, frequently trigger warning codes worth investigating promptly.

Exhaust System Components & What We Inspect
Understanding what’s in your exhaust system helps clarify why a single problem can affect multiple components. The system includes the muffler, exhaust piping, catalytic converter, exhaust manifold, oxygen sensors, and the mounting hardware that holds everything in place.
What an Exhaust Inspection Covers
During an exhaust inspection, we check that all mounts are secure, examine exhaust pipes for cracks or corrosion, evaluate the catalytic converter, inspect oxygen sensors, review exhaust manifolds and gaskets for wear, and assess the muffler for rust or physical damage. Annual evaluation is a practical way to catch corrosion and wear before small issues become cracks or holes that require more extensive repairs.
Exhaust Health and Emissions Compliance
A properly functioning exhaust system contributes directly to fuel efficiency. When the system is working as designed, the engine runs at full power without wasting fuel compensating for backpressure or leaks. Keeping the exhaust system in good shape also helps support your vehicle’s emissions performance and helps avoid check engine codes tied to components like the catalytic converter and oxygen sensors.
