How Our Vehicle Testing Process Works
When you bring your vehicle to Christian Brothers Automotive, let us know what you’re experiencing at scheduling so we can provide fast, accurate service advice from the moment you arrive.
Our process covers everything from your initial appointment through completed repairs: Schedule Your Appointment, Diagnostics & Inspections, Digital Vehicle Inspection Report & Estimate, Review & Approval, and Work Performed or Scheduled. Most work can be completed the same day, or scheduled around parts availability and your calendar.
1. Schedule Your Appointment
Whether scheduling online or over the phone be sure and let us know what you're experiencing so we can provide fast and accurate service advice.
2. Diagnostics and Inspections
Drop off your vehicle and the shop will get to work with inspections and diagnostics using the same equipment as the manufacturers to determine issues and next steps.
3. Digital Vehicle Inspection Report and Estimate
Following the diagnosis we will text you a digital vehicle inspection report, containing pictures and videos of our findings and recommendations.
4. Review and Approval
A service advisor will reach out to walk you through the findings and recommendations to determine how you would like to proceed, or you can approve work directly in your DVI.
5. Work Performed or Scheduled
Most work can be completed immediately, or scheduled based on parts and customer availability.
You See What We See
Our Digital Vehicle Inspection (DVI) report sends photos and videos from your actual vehicle directly to your phone. You’re not taking our word for it. You’re looking at the same evidence our technicians are.
No work begins until you say so. At Christian Brothers Automotive, plain-language explanations and a no-pressure experience aren’t a policy, they’re the standard.
When to Schedule Vehicle Testing
Any warning light is worth testing promptly. A check engine light can be triggered by something as minor as a loose gas cap or as significant as an engine or transmission issue. The only reliable way to know is professional vehicle testing, not a code-read from a parts store. Our advanced diagnostic equipment pinpoints what triggered the light quickly and accurately so nothing gets missed.
Vehicle testing isn’t only for warning lights. If your car pulls to one side, hesitates when accelerating, or shows any other change in performance, bring it in. Catching a small issue early can cost less than letting it develop. Routine maintenance visits are also a good opportunity to check your vehicle’s systems.
South Huntsville drivers can reach our team at or book online to set up an appointment at Christian Brothers Automotive.
What Car Diagnostic Testing Examines
Modern vehicles are computer-driven. When a sensor detects a problem, it stores a trouble code in your vehicle’s onboard computer, commonly referred to as the OBD-II system. A diagnostic scan reads those codes, but a code alone doesn’t tell you what to fix. It points to a system or sensor that flagged a condition. Knowing what that means and what the right repair is requires a trained technician who can interpret the data in context.
Systems Our Testing Covers
A thorough vehicle test examines major systems including the engine, transmission, electrical systems, and safety features. Manufacturer-level diagnostic tools access the same data protocols that dealerships use, enabling more precise identification of issues than a generic scan tool can provide. Generic tools read the code. Manufacturer-level equipment reads the full picture.
That difference matters when a symptom is intermittent, when multiple codes appear together, or when a code points to a system rather than a single component. Our ASE-certified technicians use that deeper data to confirm the root cause before any repair recommendation is made.
