Sean Hughes is a lifelong resident of the Southwest Michigan and Greater Kalamazoo area. His connection to the automotive world began early, working alongside his father in a small automotive repair and accessories shop. He later spent 10 years in a family-owned automotive dealership, experiences that shaped his appreciation for both the work itself and the relationships built around it.

For more than 15 years, Sean served in leadership with Youth For Christ. He spent seven years as a local Executive Director before serving for eight years in a national leadership role with YFC USA. He has also served on the boards of several local nonprofits and was part of the leadership team that redeveloped the property now known as Midlink Business Park. While those experiences have shaped his leadership, Sean considers his greatest investment to be in people and the community he has called home his entire life.

Sean and his wife, Shanell, have been married for 30 years. Together they have seven children and five grandchildren. Shanell owns and operates Gull Arbor Senior Living, a well-known and respected senior living home in the community.

Sean was drawn to Christian Brothers Automotive because its core values—transparency, excellence, neighborly, and joy—closely reflecting the way he believes people should be treated. The company's "Nice Difference" is rooted in a simple principle: loving your neighbor as yourself.
