Full Service Diagnostic Testing
We connect the warning light and stored information with your reported symptoms and our inspection findings. This process is designed to identify the problem efficiently and give you useful information before you decide how to proceed.
1. Describe the Warning & Symptoms
We start with what you observed, including when the light appeared and what the vehicle was doing at the time. A cold-start problem, intermittent hesitation, or a light that appears during acceleration can help focus the investigation.
2. Retrieve Information & Test the Related System
We retrieve the available information and assess the systems connected to the reported condition. The appropriate testing depends on the code, symptoms, inspection findings, and vehicle design.
3. Review the Findings
Our Digital Vehicle Inspection provides actual vehicle photos and plain-language explanations before work is approved. Testing and repair authorization remain separate decisions, allowing you to review our findings and recommendation first.
1. Schedule Your Appointment
Whether scheduling online or over the phone be sure and let us know what you're experiencing so we can provide fast and accurate service advice.
2. Diagnostics and Inspections
Drop off your vehicle and the shop will get to work with inspections and diagnostics using the same equipment as the manufacturers to determine issues and next steps.
3. Digital Vehicle Inspection Report and Estimate
Following the diagnosis we will text you a digital vehicle inspection report, containing pictures and videos of our findings and recommendations.
4. Review and Approval
A service advisor will reach out to walk you through the findings and recommendations to determine how you would like to proceed, or you can approve work directly in your DVI.
5. Work Performed or Scheduled
Most work can be completed immediately, or scheduled based on parts and customer availability.
Dashboard warnings make more sense when interpreted alongside the vehicle’s symptoms and physical condition.
From Test Results to Repair Recommendations
When testing indicates that a repair is appropriate, we explain the condition we found and why we recommend the work. We consider safety, reliability, and long-term value rather than treating a stored code as an automatic instruction to replace a part.
You can review the recommendation before authorizing additional work. Repairs performed by our Gallatin shop are covered by the Nice Difference® Warranty for 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs last.
A vehicle may need attention even without obvious performance changes. Shaking, stalling, hesitation, or power loss can make the situation more urgent.
When to Schedule Check Engine Light Diagnostics
Schedule service when the warning stays on, returns after being cleared, or appears with changes in starting, idling, acceleration, shifting, fuel economy, or engine sound. Tell us whether the concern is constant or intermittent and note any conditions that seem to trigger it.
We offer a free second opinion diagnostic if you want another assessment of an existing finding. Our complimentary shuttle service can also help limit disruptions while your vehicle is being evaluated.
Clear Answers Before You Authorize a Repair
Bring us the illuminated warning light and any related drivability concerns. We can explain what the testing found, how it relates to your vehicle’s condition, and what we recommend next.
Our owner/operators are on-site, providing a direct point of accountability throughout your service experience.
What a Check Engine Light Can and Can’t Tell You
OBD-II diagnostic trouble codes point toward a condition detected by the vehicle’s monitoring systems. They can narrow the investigation, but further inspection and testing may be needed to distinguish among possible causes involving:
- Ignition and fuel delivery
- Emissions controls and sensors
- Wiring and electrical systems
- Engine performance
A flashing warning accompanied by severe shaking, smoke, overheating, major power loss, or unsafe drivability should be treated as urgent. Stop the vehicle when it’s safe rather than continuing to drive.
We pair thorough testing with clear explanations so you can make repair decisions based on your vehicle’s actual condition.
Schedule Appointment: call (615) 827-1956 and share your vehicle’s warning-light and performance details.

FAQs
-
Q. "What is the difference between a steadily lit and a flashing check engine light?"A steadily lit light means that a sensor is sending a signal to your vehicle's computer that something is wrong or it could simply mean that the sensor is out. If your check engine light is flashing, however, that means there is a serious issue and you should stop driving immediately.
-
Q. "Why is my check engine light on but nothing seems to be wrong with my vehicle?"If nothing within your vehicle stands out, then it is possible that it is just a minor issue such as a loose gas cap or a bad O2 sensor. It is still recommended to see a mechanic if the light doesn't disappear to check for any larger issues.
-
Q. "Do you offer a warranty?"As part of our Nice difference.® commitment to providing our customers the best auto service experience possible, we also offer a3-year/36,000-mile warranty on all the work that we do. We offer this warranty at every Christian Brothers Automotive nationwide, and it will be honored at any location, regardless of which branch did the initial work.
-
Q. "Can you provide service under my extended warranty?"Yes. At Christian Brothers Automotive, we work with all major extended warranty providers to make needed repairs for our customers. If you have an extended warranty, you can discuss your carrier with our team when scheduling an appointment and confirm that the work will be covered. You can find a partial list of the extended warranty companies we work with here.
-
Q. "What to do if your check engine light turns on?"We recommend heading to your local auto shop as soon as you are able. This is typically a sign that there is an abnormality within your engine.
-
Q. "Is it safe to drive your car when the check engine light is on?"It depends. If you are experiencing other noticeable issues with your vehicle, it may be best to pull over. Otherwise, it is typically okay to drive to your local auto shop. You will want to get this checked sooner rather than later to avoid being stranded with a broken-down car.
