Our Oil Change Service Process
Our process keeps you informed from the initial appointment through any additional approved work. You can review inspection findings before deciding how to proceed.
Schedule Your Appointment
Service begins when you schedule an appointment with us. Our technicians then perform the oil and filter change and applicable inspections. They use manufacturer-equivalent equipment for any necessary diagnostics.
Receive Your Digital Vehicle Inspection
We send your Digital Vehicle Inspection report by text. The report includes photos or videos of the findings. You can see the condition behind each recommendation rather than relying on a technical description alone.
Review & Approve Recommendations
You can review recommendations with a service advisor or approve them directly through the report. Your service advisor can answer questions before you decide. We perform or schedule additional work only after receiving your approval.

4. Review and Approval
A service advisor will reach out to walk you through the findings and recommendations to determine how you would like to proceed, or you can approve work directly in your DVI.
5. Work Performed or Scheduled
Most work can be completed immediately, or scheduled based on parts and customer availability.
Why Timely Oil & Filter Changes Matter
Engine oil collects dust, dirt, and sludge as it circulates and ages. Dirty oil creates more friction inside the engine and can reduce horsepower. Replacing it at the appropriate interval restores the clean lubrication the engine needs.
The oil filter traps dirt and debris before those contaminants circulate through the engine. A fresh oil filter is essential because replacing the oil alone leaves a dirty filtration component in the system.
Qualified Technicians, Proper Equipment & Warranty Coverage
Our ASE-certified technicians perform oil and filter changes using manufacturer-quality equipment. ASE certification reflects demonstrated automotive knowledge and testing through the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence.
Work we perform is covered by the Nice Difference® Warranty for 3 years or 36,000 miles. The warranty is honored at Christian Brothers Automotive Buda locations nationwide, giving you coverage beyond the Buda area.
Oil Change Intervals for Buda Drivers
Your vehicle manufacturer’s maintenance schedule is the primary source for its oil change interval. Depending on the vehicle and oil specification, manufacturers commonly set intervals between approximately 5,000 and 10,000 miles. Many modern vehicles specify 7,500 miles or more.
Mileage isn’t the only consideration because oil also degrades over time. Low-mileage vehicles generally need fresh oil every 6 to 12 months, subject to the manufacturer’s schedule.
Driving conditions also affect the recommended interval. Frequent short trips and stop-and-go driving qualify as severe-service driving, placing greater demands on the oil. The manufacturer’s maintenance schedule identifies whether your driving pattern calls for more frequent service.
Use Your Vehicle’s Maintenance Guidance
Your owner manual provides the maintenance schedule and oil specification for your engine. It accounts for vehicle-specific requirements that a universal mileage recommendation can’t address.
An oil-life monitor or maintenance reminder indicates when scheduled oil service is due. To decide when to arrange service, consider that reminder together with the mileage, time since the last oil change, driving conditions, and the interval listed by the manufacturer.

Oil Types, Additives & Engine Capacity
The correct engine oil depends on the specifications established for your vehicle. Your owner manual identifies the required oil type and viscosity, which is the oil’s thickness grade at specified temperatures.
Oil and filter change options include:
- Conventional oil changes: Conventional motor oil that meets the vehicle’s specified requirements.
- Blend oil changes: An oil formulated with conventional and synthetic base oils.
- Full-synthetic oil changes: Synthetic oil formulated to meet the applicable vehicle specification.
We can also include additives intended to extend the life of oil changes. Because the correct product depends on the vehicle and its maintenance requirements, we review the available option before adding it.
Oil capacity varies by engine size. Most vehicles hold between 5 and 8 quarts, but the exact amount comes from the manufacturer’s specification for that engine. Using the specified capacity and oil grade is part of completing the service correctly.
