Our Transmission Evaluation & Service Process
Our documented process lets you understand the findings, review the proposed work, and decide how to proceed before repairs begin.
Describe the Concern
Tell us when the symptom occurs, such as during startup, acceleration, gear shifting, or after the vehicle warms up. Details about warning lights, noises, leaks, and recent changes can help focus the evaluation.
Review the Findings
We provide a complimentary Digital Vehicle Inspection with photos and videos to show you relevant vehicle findings. The evaluation may also consider diagnostic information, fluid condition, electrical controls, and related drivetrain components.
Approve the Appropriate Service
Our service advisors explain their recommendations and provide a written estimate before work begins. After reviewing whether the findings call for maintenance, a targeted repair, or replacement, you can approve or decline the recommended work.
Convenience and Warranty Protection
Complimentary shuttle service can help you continue your day while your vehicle is with us. Applicable work performed by our Broken Arrow store is covered by the Nice Difference Warranty for 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs last.
Know When to Schedule Transmission Service

5. Work Performed or Scheduled
Most work can be completed immediately, or scheduled based on parts and customer availability.
Understand the Recommendation Before You Decide
Transmission concerns can require different levels of service. We explain the observed problem, the proposed work, and what that work is intended to address. Our recommendations are based on what the vehicle needs, not on the symptom alone.
The confirmed failure, overall vehicle condition, expected use, and available service options can influence the decision. We give you clear information so you can compare maintenance, repair, and transmission replacement without unnecessary technical language.
Transmission Symptoms That Need Prompt Attention
Persistent changes in how a vehicle shifts or transfers power warrant professional attention. Continuing to drive with an unresolved problem can increase wear or leave the vehicle unable to move safely.
Arrange an evaluation if you notice:
- Slipping, delayed engagement, or difficulty staying in gear
- Harsh, erratic, or unusually slow gear shifting
- Difficulty selecting a gear in an automatic or manual transmission
- Grinding, whining, clunking, or other unexplained noises
- Visible transmission fluid beneath the vehicle
- A transmission warning or related dashboard light
Transmission Fluid Service & Preventive Maintenance
Transmission fluid supports lubrication, cooling, and hydraulic operation. Its condition and the vehicle manufacturer’s maintenance requirements help determine whether a transmission flush or another maintenance service is appropriate.
Fluid service isn’t a substitute for transmission diagnostics when a vehicle already slips, shifts late, leaks, or displays a warning light. Active symptoms should be evaluated before assuming maintenance alone will address them.
Choosing Between Transmission Repair & Replacement
A repair may address a specific failed component or a related issue affecting operation. Replacement involves installing another transmission assembly when the existing unit isn’t an appropriate repair candidate.
Complete replacements are significant decisions, so any recommendation should follow diagnostic findings rather than assumptions based on one symptom. We discuss what can be serviced and what may need to be replaced before you approve the work.
Why Transmission Diagnostics Matter
Mechanical wear is only one possible source of a shifting or drivability symptom. Fluid-related problems, sensors, electrical controls, software, and related drivetrain components can cause similar changes in acceleration or gear operation. Diagnostic testing helps narrow the cause before major work is recommended.
Information to Share at Your Appointment
Specific observations can make a drivability concern easier to evaluate. Note when the problem started, whether it occurs consistently, which gears appear to be affected, and whether the behavior changes when the vehicle is cold or warm.
Useful details include:
- Dashboard warning lights or messages
- Recent maintenance or repair work
- Fluid spots and where they appear beneath the vehicle
- Noises, odors, vibrations, or changes in acceleration

FAQs
-
Q. "What factors determine the price of transmission repair?"Many different factors go into determining costs of transmission repair. The major factor is what type of vehicle you drive. The year, make and model of the car, determine how much parts and labor will cost. Another factor is how much damage the transmission has sustained. Your transmission should last a minimum of 100,000 miles by servicing your transmission on a regular basis.
-
Q. "What does automatic transmission service include?"Fluid is first drained from the pan during an automatic transmission service. A new transmission filter is installed with a new pan gasket once the pan has been removed. Finally, fresh automatic transmission fluid (ATF) is used to refill the vehicle.
-
Q. "Is there a difference between a transmission fluid change and flush?"During a transmission fluid and filter change, it’s only the fluid in the pan that is drained and replaced with new ATF. Four to five quarts of fluid will typically be replaced in this process, while nine to thirteen quarts are replaced during a full transmission fluid flush. The difference in amounts is because the complete flush drains the entire system.
