How a Brake Service Visit Works
We keep the process straightforward so you know where things stand.
Drop Off & Inspect
Bring your vehicle in, and our technicians get to work using manufacturer-quality diagnostic equipment. We evaluate the full brake system to pinpoint exactly what needs attention.
Review Your Digital Report
After diagnosis, we send you a digital vehicle inspection report by text. It includes photos and videos of our findings along with our recommendations. A service advisor is available to walk you through it, or you can review and approve work directly from the report on your phone.
Repair & Return
Most brake repairs can be completed the same day. If parts need to be ordered or you’d prefer to schedule around your availability, we’ll work with you to find the right time.
1. Schedule Your Appointment
Whether scheduling online or over the phone be sure and let us know what you're experiencing so we can provide fast and accurate service advice.
2. Diagnostics and Inspections
Drop off your vehicle and the shop will get to work with inspections and diagnostics using the same equipment as the manufacturers to determine issues and next steps.
3. Digital Vehicle Inspection Report and Estimate
Following the diagnosis we will text you a digital vehicle inspection report, containing pictures and videos of our findings and recommendations.
4. Review and Approval
A service advisor will reach out to walk you through the findings and recommendations to determine how you would like to proceed, or you can approve work directly in your DVI.
5. Work Performed or Scheduled
Most work can be completed immediately, or scheduled based on parts and customer availability.

Recognizing Brake Problems & Understanding Your Braking System
Brakes rarely fail without warning. Knowing what to listen and feel for gives you the chance to act before a minor wear issue becomes a larger repair.
Common warning signs to watch for:
- Squealing, grinding, or screeching when braking often indicates worn brake pads or shoes
- A soft or spongy pedal can point to low brake fluid or air in the brake lines
- Pulling to one side during braking may signal uneven wear or a caliper issue
- Vibration or pulsation through the pedal often points to uneven rotor wear
- A dashboard brake or ABS warning light means the system should be inspected promptly
Free visual brake inspections are available on most vehicles and can often be completed during a routine oil change as part of our courtesy inspection. Call (479) 425-3391 or stop by Christian Brothers Automotive Springdale in Springdale, Arkansas, to get started.
How Your Braking System Works
Understanding the components helps you make sense of what your technician finds during an inspection.
Disc Brakes
Most modern vehicles use disc brakes on at least the front axle. When you press the pedal, a caliper clamps brake pads against a rotor, creating the friction that slows the wheel. Worn pads or scored rotors can reduce that friction and extend stopping distance.
Drum Brakes
Drum brake systems, common on rear axles, use brake shoes that press outward against the inside of a brake drum to create stopping friction. Shoes wear over time just as pads do and should be inspected regularly.
Brake Fluid
Brake fluid transfers pressure from your pedal through the brake lines to the calipers or wheel cylinders. Fluid that’s low or contaminated can compromise pedal feel and braking response.
Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS)
The ABS can help prevent wheels from locking up and skidding during hard braking, helping you maintain steering control. An ABS warning light is a signal to have the system checked promptly.
Additional Wear Signs Worth Knowing
A burning smell after heavy braking can indicate overheating components. If you notice it under normal driving conditions, have the system looked at. Worn pads that go unaddressed can lead to metal-on-metal contact that damages rotors, turning a straightforward pad replacement into a more involved repair.
Brake wear rates vary based on driving habits, vehicle type, and road conditions. Periodic inspection is a reliable way to catch wear early and keep repair costs manageable.
