Signs Your Vehicle AC Needs Service This Summer
Meridian summers bring highs in the low 90s through July and August. That sustained heat puts extra strain on your vehicle’s AC system and related components, which means small problems can surface faster and worsen quickly if ignored. We handle AC diagnostics and repairs for any make or model, so whatever you’re driving, bring it in.
Watch for these warning signs that your vehicle AC needs a professional inspection:
- Air that’s not getting as cool as it should
- Air that starts cold but gradually warms while driving
- Weak or reduced airflow from the vents
- A foul or musty odor when the AC is running
- Clicking or grinding noises when the AC engages
- Visible fluid under the vehicle after it’s been parked
Any of these signs are worth a diagnostic visit before a minor issue becomes a major repair.
How Your Vehicle’s AC System Works
A vehicle AC system doesn’t generate cold air. It removes heat from the cabin air by cycling refrigerant between gaseous and liquid states. That distinction matters for accurate diagnosis.
Key components in the cooling cycle include the compressor, condenser, evaporator, and refrigerant lines. Each plays a distinct role, and a problem with any one of them can affect overall performance.
Refrigerant doesn’t deplete the way motor oil does. If your system is low, that typically points to a leak somewhere in the system. Recharging without locating and repairing the leak means the problem can return. Accurate diagnostics using modern equipment identify whether the issue is a refrigerant leak, a failing AC compressor, a clogged condenser, or another component, so the correct repair is performed the first time rather than a temporary fix that masks the underlying cause.
