2. Diagnostics and Inspections
Drop off your vehicle and the shop will get to work with inspections and diagnostics using the same equipment as the manufacturers to determine issues and next steps.
3. Digital Vehicle Inspection Report and Estimate
Following the diagnosis we will text you a digital vehicle inspection report, containing pictures and videos of our findings and recommendations.
4. Review and Approval
A service advisor will reach out to walk you through the findings and recommendations to determine how you would like to proceed, or you can approve work directly in your DVI.
5. Work Performed or Scheduled
Most work can be completed immediately, or scheduled based on parts and customer availability.
Our ASE-certified technicians use manufacturer-quality equipment to diagnose and repair your suspension system. Every repair is backed by our Nice Difference Warranty for 3 years or 36,000 miles, and you'll receive a Digital Vehicle Inspection report with photos before we begin any work.
Suspension Warning Signs & What We Service
Worn shocks and struts usually deteriorate gradually, which makes the problem easy to overlook until handling is noticeably compromised. We recommend a suspension inspection once a year or every 12,000 miles as part of regular scheduled maintenance, but don't wait for a scheduled visit if you notice any of these symptoms.
Watch for these warning signs:
- Pulling or drifting during turns that can indicate worn control arms, ball joints, or alignment issues
- Excessive bouncing after bumps that suggests shocks or struts can no longer dampen spring movement
- Nose-diving under braking or squatting during acceleration that signals weakened shock absorbers
- Clunking or rattling from beneath the vehicle, especially over uneven roads
- Uneven tire wear that points to misalignment caused by worn suspension components
- Fluid leaking near shocks or struts
- Loose or unstable steering feel at highway speeds
A degraded suspension system can increase braking distance, accelerate tire wear, and reduce fuel efficiency. The cost of delay can compound across multiple vehicle systems, so addressing these signs promptly helps protect both your safety and your budget.
What Our Suspension Service Covers
Our ASE-certified technicians diagnose suspension problems using manufacturer-quality equipment and walk you through repair options before work begins.
Shocks & Struts
Shock absorbers are hydraulic-fluid-filled cylinders that control spring and suspension movement. When they leak or lose damping ability, you may feel excessive bounce and reduced road contact. Struts serve a structural role, integrating the shock absorber with a coil spring and mount. Worn struts can affect alignment, body roll, and overall stability. Your vehicle has one or the other at each wheel position. We typically replace shocks and struts in pairs (front or rear) to maintain even handling.
Control Arms & Ball Joints
Control arms connect the suspension to the vehicle frame, while ball joints act as pivot points that allow the wheels to move with the suspension. Worn components can cause misalignment and uneven tire wear, and they can compromise steering response.
Springs & Steering Components
Broken or sagging springs change ride height and put additional stress on shocks and struts. We also inspect related steering system components that interact with the suspension to help ensure the entire system functions correctly.
Wheel Alignment After Suspension Repair
Replacing struts or shocks can alter ride height, which changes alignment angles. We check wheel alignment after suspension component replacement so your new parts can deliver the handling and tire wear they're designed for.
Frequently Asked Questions
How Often Should I Have My Suspension Inspected?
We recommend once a year or every 12,000 miles. If you notice pulling, bouncing, unusual noise, or uneven tire wear, schedule an inspection right away rather than waiting for your next maintenance interval.
What's the Difference Between Shocks and Struts?
A vehicle has one or the other at each wheel, never both. Shocks dampen spring movement but aren't structural. Struts are a structural component that also support vehicle weight and integrate the coil spring. They can't be substituted for each other.
Does Christian Brothers Automotive Meridian Rd Work With Extended Warranties?
Yes. We work with all major extended warranty providers. When you schedule your appointment, let us know you have an extended warranty so we can confirm coverage before your visit.
What Happens if I Ignore Suspension Problems?
Handling can degrade, braking distance can increase, and tire wear can accelerate. Left unaddressed, worn suspension components put extra stress on the steering system, ball joints, and control arms, which can lead to more costly repairs down the road.
