Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if my transmission needs repair?
Common signs include slipping, delayed engagement, harsh shifts, or new warning lights. You might also notice fluid leaks or new noises while driving. The best next step is to schedule an inspection so our technicians can road test the vehicle, check the fluid condition, and scan for related codes.
Is it safe to keep driving with shifting problems?
In many cases, continuing to drive with clear transmission symptoms can worsen internal wear and increase repair costs. If your vehicle is slipping, banging into gear, or has a strong burning smell, it is wise to limit driving and have it checked as soon as reasonably possible.
Will you explain my options before any transmission work?
Yes, we review our findings with you before any transmission work begins. Our team explains what we found, what may have caused it, and the practical options available. We discuss likely costs, time in the shop, and warranty coverage so you can make an informed decision.
What kind of warranty do you offer on transmission work?
We back our transmission work with an industry-leading warranty that reflects our confidence in our parts and workmanship. Specific terms can vary by repair, so our team explains how the warranty applies to your situation before you authorize any major work.
How long does transmission service usually take?
Many routine fluid services can typically be completed the same day, depending on scheduling and your vehicle. More involved repairs or replacements often take longer, especially if parts need to be ordered. We outline a realistic timeline upfront and offer a shuttle to help you stay on track.

FAQs
-
Q. "What factors determine the price of transmission repair?"Many different factors go into determining costs of transmission repair. The major factor is what type of vehicle you drive. The year, make and model of the car, determine how much parts and labor will cost. Another factor is how much damage the transmission has sustained. Your transmission should last a minimum of 100,000 miles by servicing your transmission on a regular basis.
-
Q. "What does automatic transmission service include?"Fluid is first drained from the pan during an automatic transmission service. A new transmission filter is installed with a new pan gasket once the pan has been removed. Finally, fresh automatic transmission fluid (ATF) is used to refill the vehicle.
-
Q. "Is there a difference between a transmission fluid change and flush?"During a transmission fluid and filter change, it’s only the fluid in the pan that is drained and replaced with new ATF. Four to five quarts of fluid will typically be replaced in this process, while nine to thirteen quarts are replaced during a full transmission fluid flush. The difference in amounts is because the complete flush drains the entire system.

"I came in for an exhaust leak and vibration at higher speeds. The team obviously fixed the issues, but they did the repairs without up-charging with unneeded parts and labor cost. As always Church Brothers also did a very thorough walk thru of the vehicle "
