Choosing the Right Oil for Your Vehicle
Not every engine needs the same oil. Understanding the differences between oil types helps you know what to expect at check-in, so you can make the right call without feeling pressured at the counter.
Conventional, Blend, & Full Synthetic
We offer conventional, blend, and full synthetic oil changes to match whatever your engine requires. Conventional oil, derived from crude oil, performs well for many standard engines. Synthetic blend combines conventional and synthetic base oils for improved performance at a mid-range cost. Full synthetic offers the highest protection under extreme conditions, resists breakdown longer, and is specified by manufacturers for many modern engines.
The right choice starts with your owner’s manual. Your manufacturer’s recommendation accounts for your engine design, driving conditions, and intended service intervals. Our technicians follow those recommendations rather than defaulting to a single option. Every oil and filter change includes a new oil filter, so clean filtration starts fresh with every service. If you want to go longer between changes, we can also discuss additives to extend the life of your oil changes.
How Often to Change Your Oil
Most vehicles manufactured in the past decade carry manufacturer-recommended intervals of 5,000 to 7,500 miles, with some modern engines on full synthetic extending further. Older vehicles or certain engine types may still call for 3,000-mile intervals. Your owner’s manual remains the most reliable guide for your specific make, model, and driving pattern.
Newer vehicles often include a dashboard oil life monitor that accounts for actual driving conditions. Use it as a trigger regardless of mileage elapsed. If you’re between services, a few signs can tell you the oil is due: dark or opaque oil on the dipstick (brown-black rather than light amber) means the oil has accumulated enough contaminants to warrant a change. Grinding or tapping noises from the engine, or unexpected overheating, can signal the oil level is critically low or that the oil has lost its ability to lubricate effectively. Don’t wait on those.
