Frequently Asked Questions
What are the most common signs my brakes need repair?
The most common indicators that your brakes need attention include a squealing or grinding noise when you apply the brakes, a vibration or pulsation in the pedal, or a longer stopping distance.
You might also notice a "spongy" or soft pedal feel, or your brake warning light may illuminate. If you experience any of these symptoms, schedule a brake inspection right away to avoid costly repairs and ensure your safety.
How often should I get my brakes checked in Oklahoma City?
Regular brake maintenance is crucial. We generally recommend having your brakes inspected annually, with brake fluid levels checked at every service visit.
However, given Oklahoma City's hot summers and stop-and-go traffic, more frequent checks may be necessary. Being proactive about your brake service can prevent future issues and help you avoid costly brake repair down the road.
What is the difference between ceramic and semi-metallic brake pads?
Brake pads come in different materials to suit different driving needs. Ceramic pads are a popular choice for Oklahoma City drivers because they are long-lasting, produce minimal dust, and are quiet—perfect for daily commuting.
Semi-metallic pads offer stronger stopping power and better heat resistance, making them ideal for heavy-duty trucks or vehicles that tow loads on the highway. Our team will help you select the right brake pads for your specific vehicle and driving habits.
How often should I change my brake fluid?
Brake fluid plays a vital role in your system, but it absorbs moisture over time, especially in Oklahoma's humid summers. This moisture lowers the fluid's boiling point and can cause internal corrosion.
We recommend changing your brake fluid every 20,000 to 45,000 miles, or as your manufacturer suggests. Regular fluid changes help maintain safe, responsive braking and protect your system year-round.
Does your brake repair come with a warranty?
Yes! We back our work with the Christian Brothers brake warranty, which covers qualifying parts and labor for a set period—typically our industry-leading 3-Year/36,000-Mile Nice Difference® Warranty.
This gives you peace of mind and added confidence in your repairs. We know Oklahoma City drivers rely on their vehicles, so we make sure you know exactly what protection is included before any repairs begin.
