How to Know When Your Vehicle Needs a Tune-Up
Your owner’s manual is the most reliable guide to maintenance intervals, but your vehicle can signal trouble before you hit the scheduled mileage. Common signs a Tune-Up may be overdue include:
- Rough idling
- Reduced fuel economy
- Difficulty starting
- Sluggish acceleration
- An illuminated check engine light
Tune-up intervals aren’t universal. Vehicles with conventional spark plugs typically need more frequent attention than those using extended-life iridium or platinum plugs. Make, model, age, and driving habits all factor in. That’s why we look at your specific vehicle rather than applying a one-size schedule to every car that comes through the door.
What Skipping Maintenance Can Cost You
Worn spark plugs and clogged filters can reduce combustion efficiency over time. Fuel costs can rise, the engine can work harder, and misfires can become more likely. Staying on the manufacturer’s schedule helps avoid that compounding effect, and a consistent service history can support your vehicle’s resale value because documented maintenance is something a future buyer or dealer can verify.
Modern vehicles rely on computer-controlled ignition and fuel delivery systems alongside traditional mechanical components. A thorough Tune-Up addresses both. Our technicians review ignition, fuel delivery, and fluid levels as part of every visit, catching issues that might otherwise trigger a check engine light before they escalate.
