Most work can be completed immediately, or scheduled based on parts and customer availability.
If you're concerned about the tread on your tires, we recommend the “penny test” to check your tread depth. Simply insert a penny into your tire's tread groove with Lincoln's head upside down and facing you. If you can see all of Lincoln's head, your tread depth is less than 2/32 inch and it's time to replace your tires.
Common Signs You Need a Wheel Alignment
Misaligned wheels aren't just a nuisance—they can lead to severe problems for your tires and overall vehicle performance. Misalignment causes uneven tire wear, reducing tire lifespan and increasing the risk of a blowout. If you've noticed any of the following issues, or if your vehicle has been in an accident, it's time to schedule an alignment check:
- Uneven or cupped tire wear: This includes scalloped patterns or dips along the edges of your tire tread.
- Vehicle vibrations: Shaking or vibrations in the floorboard at highway speeds.
- Pulling to one side: The car drifts left or right while driving straight.
- Reduced handling: Diminished steering precision and control.
- Off-center steering wheel: The steering wheel isn't centered when the car is driving straight.
Why Regular Wheel Alignments are Crucial
Misaligned wheels can impact your gas mileage, cause premature tire wear, and degrade your vehicle's performance. That's why we recommend getting your alignment checked every 6,000 miles or every six months.
Even subtle misalignments can go unnoticed but have significant effects over time. By addressing these issues promptly, you can protect your tires and extend your vehicle's lifespan. At Christian Brothers Automotive Peoria-Thunderbird, we include a complimentary courtesy inspection with every service. Our technicians often identify alignment problems during routine maintenance, such as oil changes.
