The Courtesy Inspection: Transparency Before Any Work Begins
Before we recommend a single service, every vehicle receives a Courtesy Inspection. Our technicians review major systems, including lights, brakes, suspension, tires, and battery, giving us a complete picture of what’s working and what needs attention. A modern vehicle has more than 30,000 parts. Knowing which ones are due for service and which ones aren’t is what separates a targeted tune-up from a generic checklist.
Signs Your Vehicle May Be Due for a Tune-Up
Your car often signals when routine car maintenance is overdue. Rough idling, reduced fuel efficiency, engine misfires, and an illuminated check engine light are common indicators worth taking seriously. None of these symptoms mean your engine is failing, but each one is worth checking against your manufacturer’s recommended service intervals. Catching small issues early can consistently cost less than letting them compound into larger repairs.
If your vehicle is showing any of these signs, or if you’re simply due for scheduled car maintenance in Papillion, call Christian Brothers Automotive Papillion at (531) 625-2231 to book an appointment. What Tune-Up Work Generally Addresses
Under a manufacturer maintenance schedule, tune-up work typically involves inspecting or replacing components related to ignition and combustion, such as spark plugs, as well as reviewing filters, fluids, and belts and hoses at intervals the manufacturer specifies. The goal is to help keep the engine’s core systems operating within the performance window it was designed for.
Modern vehicles differ significantly from older ones in how this work gets done. Today’s cars use computer-controlled ignition and fuel systems, which means technicians rely on diagnostic tools to read the engine’s data rather than manually adjusting points and condensers the way older tune-ups required. That shift makes accurate diagnostics more important than ever. When our ASE-certified technicians connect to your vehicle’s system, they can see what the manufacturer’s tolerances are and measure actual performance against them.
How Often Does a Vehicle Need a Tune-Up?
There’s no universal answer. Manufacturers set service intervals based on mileage, time, or both, and those intervals vary by make, model, and engine type. Following your manufacturer’s schedule is the standard for protecting engine performance and fuel efficiency over the long term. If you’re unsure where your vehicle stands, the Courtesy Inspection we perform at each visit can show you which scheduled items are coming due.
