Our Diesel Repair Process in New Albany, Indiana
Before repairs begin, you can review what our technicians found, consider their recommendations, and decide what work to authorize.
Your service visit includes three steps:
- Schedule or bring in your vehicle: Make an appointment online, call our shop, or bring your diesel truck or SUV in for service.
- Review the inspection findings: We perform a free Digital Vehicle Inspection and provide photos of relevant components with clear recommendations.
- Approve the repair: We complete the authorized work using manufacturer-quality equipment. The repair is then backed by the Nice Difference Warranty for 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs last.
1. Schedule Your Appointment
Whether scheduling online or over the phone be sure and let us know what you're experiencing so we can provide fast and accurate service advice.
2. Diagnostics and Inspections
Drop off your vehicle and the shop will get to work with inspections and diagnostics using the same equipment as the manufacturers to determine issues and next steps.
3. Digital Vehicle Inspection Report and Estimate
Following the diagnosis we will text you a digital vehicle inspection report, containing pictures and videos of our findings and recommendations.
4. Review and Approval
A service advisor will reach out to walk you through the findings and recommendations to determine how you would like to proceed, or you can approve work directly in your DVI.
5. Work Performed or Scheduled
Most work can be completed immediately, or scheduled based on parts and customer availability.
Free Shuttle Service and a Courtesy Inspection
You don’t have to put your day on hold while your vehicle is being serviced. Our free shuttle can take you where you need to go and pick you up when your truck or SUV is ready.
Every visit also includes a free courtesy inspection of items such as the brakes, fluids, tires, and battery. We explain the results in straightforward language, so you aren’t left sorting through technical jargon.
Diesel Repair Warning Signs You Shouldn’t Ignore
Diesel engines use compression ignition, which means compressed air creates the heat that ignites the fuel instead of a spark plug. As a result, their fuel, emissions, and starting systems have different service needs than gasoline engines.
Watch for these symptoms:
- Reduced power or a DPF warning: The diesel particulate filter captures soot from the exhaust. A clogged filter can trigger a dashboard warning or reduce engine power.
- A DEF warning or power countdown: Diesel exhaust fluid supports emissions control in modern diesel vehicles. A system fault can cause dashboard warnings or begin a countdown to reduced power.
- Power loss, smoke, or unusual noise: These symptoms may indicate a turbocharger problem, although diagnostic testing is needed to identify the cause.
- Difficult cold starts: Glow plugs warm the combustion chambers during startup. Worn glow plugs can make starting more difficult during Southern Indiana winters.
Rough idling, misfires, or declining fuel economy may point to a fuel delivery problem, including worn or contaminated fuel injectors. Because several faults can cause similar symptoms, we test the system before recommending repairs.
A check engine light may also signal a fault in the diesel emissions system. Diagnostic testing can distinguish among DPF restrictions, DEF system faults, sensor failures, and other emissions concerns instead of relying on the warning light alone.
Diesel Preventive Maintenance for Trucks & SUVs
Timely fluid and filter service can lower the risk of more extensive diesel engine repairs. Service intervals vary by manufacturer, engine, mileage, operating conditions, and maintenance history, so we follow the requirements for your vehicle rather than applying one schedule to every diesel.
Common diesel maintenance items include:
- Engine oil and oil filter service
- Fuel filter replacement
- Diesel exhaust fluid checks and refills
- Engine coolant and brake fluid service
- Transmission and differential fluid service
- Transfer case and front differential service for four-wheel-drive vehicles
Fluid condition and filtration matter because modern diesel fuel and emissions systems operate within closely controlled pressures and temperatures. Routine service also gives our technicians an opportunity to document developing problems before they require larger repairs.
