The Nice Difference Warranty
Our transmission service work is backed by a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty that expires at the later of the two limits, not the first. Coverage extends to parts and labor, protects against defects in new parts and improper installation, and is valid at every Christian Brothers Automotive location nationwide.

Upfront Pricing and No Hidden Charges
We provide pricing before work begins. You approve the repair; we do the work. No unexpected line items when you pick up your keys.

Convenience Built Into the Process
Free shuttle service keeps your day on track while your vehicle is in service. After-hours key drop-off is available if your schedule doesn’t fit our hours. Both are available at our Simpsonville location.

Transmission Repairs Backed by a Warranty That Works in Your Favor

Most automotive warranties expire at whichever limit, time or mileage, you hit first. The Nice Difference Warranty works differently. Coverage on parts and labor extends for 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs last. A driver who puts on fewer miles gets more time. A high-mileage driver isn’t penalized for how they use their vehicle. If a problem surfaces while you’re traveling, the warranty is valid at every Christian Brothers Automotive location nationwide, so you’re not without coverage.

Transmission Warning Signs Simpsonville Drivers Shouldn’t Ignore

Transmission problems rarely appear without warning. The symptoms below are the most common signs that your transmission needs attention. Early diagnosis is often less expensive than waiting.

Common symptoms that warrant a transmission diagnostic:

  • Slipping gears: the transmission shifts into a gear and then unexpectedly falls back out
  • Delayed or rough engagement when moving from park to drive, or between gears
  • Burning smell from the engine bay, often a sign of overheating or degraded transmission fluid
  • Reddish fluid pooling beneath the vehicle, indicating a transmission fluid leak
  • Grinding or shaking during gear changes in an automatic transmission
  • Check engine light: transmission sensors trigger the same warning as engine issues and warrant a scan
  • Humming, whining, or clunking sounds when the vehicle is in neutral

Transmission Flush, Fluid Change, Repair, Rebuild, or Replacement

Not every transmission problem requires a full replacement, and not every problem can be solved with a fluid change. Understanding what each service involves helps you have a more informed conversation with your technician.

Transmission Flush
Removes old fluid and contaminants from the entire system, including the torque converter and cooler lines. More thorough than a standard fluid change.

Transmission Fluid Change
Drains and replaces fluid in the pan but doesn’t reach the torque converter or cooler lines. Appropriate for routine maintenance on vehicles in good condition.

Transmission Repair
Addresses specific failed or worn components without replacing the entire unit. The right choice when damage is limited to identifiable parts.

Transmission Rebuild
Involves disassembling the transmission, replacing worn internal components, and reassembling the unit. The right path when multiple internal parts have failed but a full replacement isn’t the most cost-effective option.

Complete Replacement
Installs a remanufactured or new transmission. Typically appropriate when repair or rebuild costs aren’t practical given the vehicle’s overall condition and value.

Our certified technicians diagnose the correct course of action rather than defaulting to the most expensive option. A proper diagnostic scan determines which service your vehicle actually needs.

FAQs

  • Q. "What factors determine the price of transmission repair?"
Many different factors go into determining costs of transmission repair. The major factor is what type of vehicle you drive. The year, make and model of the car, determine how much parts and labor will cost. Another factor is how much damage the transmission has sustained. Your transmission should last a minimum of 100,000 miles by servicing your transmission on a regular basis.
  • Q. "What does automatic transmission service include?"
Fluid is first drained from the pan during an automatic transmission service. A new transmission filter is installed with a new pan gasket once the pan has been removed. Finally, fresh automatic transmission fluid (ATF) is used to refill the vehicle.
  • Q. "Is there a difference between a transmission fluid change and flush?"
During a transmission fluid and filter change, it’s only the fluid in the pan that is drained and replaced with new ATF. Four to five quarts of fluid will typically be replaced in this process, while nine to thirteen quarts are replaced during a full transmission fluid flush. The difference in amounts is because the complete flush drains the entire system.
