Tire Rotation & Alignment in Roanoke, Texas
A tire rotation is more than moving tires front to back. When our technicians rotate your tires, they’re also in a position to check your alignment and suspension components in the same visit. Uneven wear patterns often point to alignment or suspension issues that, left unaddressed, can wear through the new tire position just as fast. Catching those problems early can mean one visit instead of two.
Christian Brothers Automotive Roanoke serves drivers throughout the Roanoke area, including commuters near Texas Motor Speedway and Fort Worth Alliance Airport. If you’re putting regular miles on your vehicle, consistent tire maintenance is one of the most cost-effective things you can do.
How to Know When Your Tires Need Attention
Tread depth is the most reliable indicator of tire safety. Once tread wears to 2/32 of an inch, the tire loses its ability to channel water away from the contact patch, and stopping distances can increase significantly. NHTSA identifies this as the threshold where a tire rapidly loses traction. A quick way to check: place a penny upside down in the tread groove. If you can see the top of Lincoln’s head, the tire should be replaced.
NHTSA recommends checking both tread depth and tire pressure at least once a month. Consistent pressure checks matter because underinflated tires wear unevenly and can reduce fuel efficiency before any visible damage appears.
Texas no longer requires annual safety inspections for most non-commercial passenger vehicles, a change that took effect in January 2025. That means your tires won’t be reviewed at a mandatory inspection each year. Drivers remain responsible for keeping tires in safe condition and can still be cited for unsafe tires, so regular self-checks and professional inspections matter more now, not less.

Tire Age & Condition
Tread depth tells only part of the story. Rubber degrades over time even when a tire looks fine, which is why tires generally should be evaluated for replacement once they reach six to ten years old regardless of remaining tread. Cracks in the sidewall or bulges are signs that age or impact damage has compromised the structure.
Why Tire Condition Affects Crash Risk
Tire-related problems, including worn tread and underinflation, contribute to a notable share of vehicle crashes each year. Most are preventable with routine checks. If your vehicle is pulling to one side, vibrating at highway speeds, or showing uneven wear across the tread, those are reasons to bring it in before the next scheduled rotation.
Driving on a Damaged Tire
Continuing to drive on a substantially underinflated or damaged tire increases the risk of a sudden blowout and can cause additional damage to the wheel and suspension. If something doesn’t feel right, don’t wait for the next oil change. Bring it in and let our technicians take a look.
