Cooling System Service in Columbus

Radiator Repair & Coolant Flushes for Columbus Drivers, Done Right

Your engine generates enormous heat, and the cooling system is what keeps that heat from becoming a problem. Coolant (antifreeze) circulates through the engine to absorb heat and carry it away. When that system isn’t working correctly, the consequences can move from an inconvenience to serious engine damage fast. Our ASE-certified technicians at Christian Brothers Automotive Polaris handle everything from routine coolant flushes to radiator repair in Columbus, for both domestic and European vehicles.

We recommend a coolant flush once a year for most vehicles, though your owner’s manual is the best guide for your specific make and model. If you can’t remember when your vehicle last had one, bring it in and we’ll take a look.

Call us at (614) 665-7008 or schedule online to set up your cooling system service at our Columbus Polaris location.

What to Expect When You Bring Your Vehicle to Us

Choosing a repair shop means trusting someone with something you depend on. Here’s what removes the uncertainty at Christian Brothers Automotive Polaris:

We keep you informed at every stage. After your vehicle arrives, our technicians perform the Digital Vehicle Inspection and send you the findings before touching anything. Once you approve the work, most cooling system services are completed the same visit.

Cooling System Basics: What to Watch For

The cooling system’s job is to keep your engine at a safe operating temperature. It does that by circulating antifreeze, typically a mixture of ethylene or propylene glycol and de-mineralized water, through the engine to absorb and release heat. Coolant doesn’t last forever, and a neglected system can lead to overheating and costly engine damage.

If you notice any of the following, bring your vehicle in for cooling system service in Columbus:

  • Temperature gauge rising higher than normal or an overheating warning
  • Coolant pooling under the vehicle after it’s been parked
  • Low coolant levels that need frequent top-offs
  • Brownish or discolored coolant, which can indicate rust buildup inside the system

Driving with an overheating engine puts it at serious risk. If your temperature gauge is climbing, stop and have the vehicle inspected before the damage gets worse.

Cooling System Services We Provide

The four most common cooling system issues involve the water pump, radiator hoses, the radiator itself, and the thermostat. Any of these components can degrade over time, and a failure in one often puts stress on the others.

What a Coolant Flush Includes

During a coolant flush, our technicians push antifreeze through the entire cooling system to clear out old fluid and built-up contaminants. All old coolant is evacuated before fresh antifreeze is added. Conditioners are introduced after the flush to resist rust and scale deposits, extending the life of the new fluid.

Component Repairs & Diagnostics

Beyond the coolant flush, we diagnose and repair:

  • Radiator repair: Leaks, blockages, and damage that reduce the radiator’s ability to dissipate heat
  • Water pump: The component that keeps coolant circulating through the engine
  • Thermostat replacement: A failing thermostat can cause the engine to run too hot or too cold
  • Radiator hoses: Cracked or soft hoses can fail without warning and are inspected as part of any cooling system service
