Did You Know: The older a car battery is, the more susceptible it is to extreme temperature changes.
Dead or Weakened Battery Warning Signs
It’s a common misconception that your car battery will give you plenty of warning before it fails. While older batteries used to make the engine crank slower and slower over time, most modern batteries are designed to work at (or near) full capacity right up until they die.
If you notice any of the following symptoms, it's a strong indicator that your battery is on the fritz and needs professional testing:
- Diminished electric functions (such as slower-moving power windows or headlights that dim when you start the car).
- A slower, more sluggish engine crank that sounds labored when you turn the key.
- A rapid clicking noise when you try to start (this means there isn't enough power to engage the starter).
- Visible corrosion (a white, blue, or greenish powder) is building up on the battery terminals.
- The battery's age (most batteries only last 3-5 years, and often less in hot climates).
Any of these signs is your vehicle's way of telling you the battery is nearing the end of its life. Don't wait for a complete failure that leaves you stranded. If you've noticed any of these issues, it's the perfect time to bring your vehicle in for a professional battery test. We can quickly determine its true health and let you know exactly how much life it has left.
FAQs
How do I know my car needs a new battery?
Common signs include slow engine cranking, flickering lights, or the battery warning light coming on. If your car won’t start and you’ve ruled out other causes, the battery is often the culprit.
How long does a new battery typically last?
Most car batteries last three to five years, but local climate and driving habits can affect their lifespan. Frequent short trips or extreme temperatures may lead to earlier replacement.
Can I drive to the shop if my battery seems weak?
If your vehicle still starts, you can usually make it in for service, but a weak battery might leave you stranded. It's safer to call ahead if you have concerns about making the drive.
What should I bring when coming for battery replacement?
You only need your vehicle. Bring keys, any recent service or diagnostic paperwork, and your questions—our team will handle the rest.
Does a new battery come with a warranty?
Most replacement batteries include a manufacturer’s warranty, and our repairs are backed by our own industry-leading warranty for added peace of mind.

FAQs
-
Q. "How long can a car sit before the battery dies?"The battery in your car can die within as little as two weeks when unused. While our cars are more technologically advanced than ever, this comes at a cost. Due to the various gadgets and computer technology manufacturers include in our vehicles, the newest models coming off the line are always on, continually monitoring the car’s systems around the clock.
-
Q. "Does the temperature affect my vehicle's battery?"Hot and cold temperatures can ruin your battery, especially if it’s already weak. Most customers in warm, southern climates don’t realize that hot weather drains their batteries. On the other hand, cold temperatures slow down chemical reactions, which means that your car battery will become sluggish and appear to be far lower than it actually is. Most modern batteries are designed to deliver an abundance of power at what is considered a “cold crank” temperature, but older batteries or batteries which are further into their lifespan may even fail to start your car on a particularly frigid and frosty morning.
