How Our Vehicle Testing Process Works
Our process comes down to three straightforward steps. There are no surprises, and nothing moves forward without your say-so.
Step 1: Bring Your Vehicle In
Whether your check engine light is steady, flashing, or you’re simply noticing something off in how your vehicle drives, bring it in. Our team can connect it to our advanced, manufacturer-level equipment and begin a thorough evaluation.
Step 2: We Test & Report What We Find
Our technicians perform detailed testing to accurately identify what’s triggering the issue. When we’re done, we walk you through a Digital Vehicle Inspection (DVI) report written in plain language. No jargon. If you have questions, we answer them.
Step 3: You Decide What Happens Next
No work is ever done without your approval. The Digital Vehicle Inspection report outlines any recommended repairs so you can make an informed decision on your own terms.
1. Schedule Your Appointment
Whether scheduling online or over the phone be sure and let us know what you're experiencing so we can provide fast and accurate service advice.
2. Diagnostics and Inspections
Drop off your vehicle and the shop will get to work with inspections and diagnostics using the same equipment as the manufacturers to determine issues and next steps.
3. Digital Vehicle Inspection Report and Estimate
Following the diagnosis we will text you a digital vehicle inspection report, containing pictures and videos of our findings and recommendations.
4. Review and Approval
A service advisor will reach out to walk you through the findings and recommendations to determine how you would like to proceed, or you can approve work directly in your DVI.
5. Work Performed or Scheduled
Most work can be completed immediately, or scheduled based on parts and customer availability.
What Dashboard Warning Lights Are Telling You
A check engine light can mean something as minor as a loose gas cap or as significant as a failing oxygen sensor, a worn ignition coil, or an internal engine problem. The light itself doesn’t tell you which. A steady light generally signals a non-emergency issue worth having checked soon. A flashing check engine light points to something more urgent.
Ignoring a warning light rarely makes things simpler. A minor sensor-related issue can develop into more extensive damage over time, and with it, a larger repair bill. Prompt testing gives you the information you need to act before that happens.
Why a Code Scan Alone Isn’t Enough
An OBD-II scan tool identifies which system triggered a warning, but it doesn’t tell you why. A single trouble code can point to several possible causes, and the only way to know which one applies to your vehicle is hands-on technician testing. Swapping a part based on a code alone is a guess. We don’t work that way.
If your check engine light is on or your vehicle is behaving differently, bring it to Christian Brothers Automotive Beaumont. We can perform full computer diagnostic testing, explain everything we find, and let you decide what comes next. Our complimentary shuttle service is available while your vehicle is being tested. Other Warning Lights Worth Taking Seriously
The check engine light gets the most attention, but other dashboard warnings deserve prompt care too. Oil pressure, coolant temperature, ABS, and brake system alerts each signal a different vehicle system that may need attention. Some of these issues have a narrow window before they become significantly more serious.
It’s also worth knowing that a computer or sensor-related problem doesn’t always trigger a warning light right away. If your vehicle stalls, hesitates, or runs roughly, that drivability concern is worth testing even when the dashboard looks clear. Our technicians can evaluate what the vehicle’s systems are reporting and identify the cause.

FAQs
-
Q. "What does a vehicle test do?"
Today’s vehicles are more advanced than ever. They’re essentially computers on wheels, with complex systems controlling everything from performance and safety to comfort and efficiency. When a warning light comes on or something feels off, our testing process takes a deep dive into these systems to identify the real issue, not just a surface-level code. This thorough approach goes far beyond a quick parts-store scan and helps ensure repairs are accurate, effective, and long-lasting.
-
Q. "How long does a vehicle test take?"We believe in doing things right, not rushing through them. While some tests can be completed quickly, others take more time, depending on the concern.
