ASE-Certified Technicians. All Makes & Models. Warranty Included.

Burned-out or dimming headlights and taillights aren’t just an inconvenience. They’re a safety issue and, under Wisconsin law, a citable equipment violation. At Christian Brothers Automotive Sun Prairie, our ASE-certified technicians replace headlights and taillights on all makes and models, including diesel vehicles, so Sun Prairie drivers have a reliable local option.

Our shop is locally owned and operated by Kris and Chris Laukant, who bring more than 30 combined years of automotive industry experience. When you bring your vehicle to us, that level of knowledge is applied to even routine services like lighting replacement.

Why Sun Prairie Drivers Choose Christian Brothers Automotive Sun Prairie

A parts-store bulb swap replaces the bulb. Our technicians inspect the full assembly: the housing, lens condition, wiring connections, and socket for corrosion. Issues that cause repeat failures often go undetected without that full review. We use manufacturer-quality equipment on every job and document our findings through a free Digital Vehicle Inspection (DVI) that includes actual photos of your vehicle’s condition.

Every service also includes a free Courtesy Inspection. We explain what we find in plain language, with no jargon and no surprise bills. Our Free Shuttle Service and free WiFi are available if you need to step away while your vehicle is in the shop.

All parts and labor are backed by the Nice Difference® Warranty: 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs last, honored at any Christian Brothers Automotive location nationwide. Christian Brothers Automotive Sun Prairie is BBB Accredited and has been ranked #1 in Customer Satisfaction Among Aftermarket Full-Service Maintenance and Repair Providers in the J.D. Power 2025 Aftermarket Service Index (ASI) Study, for the sixth consecutive time. For J.D. Power 2025 award information, visit jdpower.com/awards.

How to Know When Your Lights Need Attention

Most headlights and taillights dim gradually before they fail completely, which means you may be driving with reduced visibility well before a bulb actually burns out. Knowing what to look for helps you act before a citation or a safety risk forces the issue.

Common signs it’s time to have your lights inspected:

  • Noticeably reduced brightness at night compared to what you’re used to
  • One light visibly dimmer than the other on the same end of the vehicle
  • Flickering when the vehicle hits a bump, which can indicate a wiring or socket problem
  • A yellowed or hazy lens that scatters light instead of projecting it
  • A dashboard warning indicator related to exterior lighting

Wisconsin requires functioning headlights and taillights. A non-working light is an equipment violation that can result in a traffic citation and may complicate insurance claims after an accident. Addressing a dimming or flickering light before full failure is often the better outcome.

What Our Technicians Check During a Lighting Service

Modern vehicles use a range of lighting technologies. Some still use replaceable halogen bulbs, while newer models increasingly rely on LED or HID assemblies where the entire unit may need to be replaced rather than just the bulb inside it. The right repair depends on a proper diagnosis, not a guess at the parts counter.

When our technicians perform a lighting replacement, they check beyond the bulb or LED unit itself. The housing and lens condition, wiring connections, and socket for corrosion all get reviewed. A corroded socket or damaged wiring harness can cause a new bulb to fail prematurely, so catching those issues during the same visit can help you avoid a return trip. Our Digital Vehicle Inspection (DVI) documents the technician’s findings with actual photos, so you can see the condition of your vehicle’s lighting system rather than taking our word for it.
