The Greens participate in several community service projects, including free oil changes for single moms and widows, a partnership with the DeSoto High School and Mill Valley High School drivers’ ed classes and the provision of car maintenance information to local Girl Scout troops.
Recently, the Greens have been looking for a local organization that could benefit from a financial donation. Scott and Tammie wanted to find a way to truly make a difference in the lives of those in need. While exploring the subject, Tammie received three distinct confirmations that Cancer Action was the organization she should partner with.
While asking around for outstanding local organizations, Tammie spoke with a dear friend who has been battling breast cancer over the past year. This friend recommended Cancer Action. Cancer Action was there to provide free wigs, nutritional supplements, homemade afghans and a listening ear.
A few days after this conversation, Scott noticed a customer’s nametag indicated she was a medical professional. When Tammie spoke with this customer about her hunt for a charitable organization, the customer also suggested Cancer Action.
Finally, Tammie went to the Cancer Action website. The page endorsed a book called “There Is no stage 5,” and Tammie recognized the author’s name as a professional acquaintance. When Tammie reached out, the woman confirmed her authorship and revealed her personal struggle with stage 4 breast cancer.
Tammie immediately ordered a copy of the book for the auto shop lobby, and reached out to the Cancer Action director.
