A service advisor will reach out to walk you through the findings and recommendations to determine how you would like to proceed, or you can approve work directly in your DVI.
5. Work Performed or Scheduled
Most work can be completed immediately, or scheduled based on parts and customer availability.

How to Tell If Your Alternator or Starter Is Failing
These two components fail differently, and knowing which symptoms point where helps you describe the problem accurately when you call.
Signs of a Failing Alternator
The alternator recharges the battery while the engine runs and powers accessories like headlights, the radio, and the AC. When it starts to fail, electrical behavior can become erratic. Watch for dim or flickering headlights (especially at idle), a battery warning light on the dashboard, power windows or the radio acting inconsistently, a battery that keeps dying even after being charged, or a burning smell from under the hood.
Signs of a Failing Starter
The starter cranks the engine when you turn the ignition. A bad starter typically prevents the engine from turning over at all, even when the lights and electronics work fine. Common signals include a clicking or grinding noise when you engage the ignition, an engine that requires multiple attempts to start, or smoke coming from under the hood during a start attempt.

That includes checking voltage output, battery condition, starter motor and solenoid function, belt and pulley condition, and related wiring before recommending anything.
After diagnosis, we send you a DVI report with photos of actual findings. Your service advisor explains what we found and what we recommend. You approve or decline each item from your smartphone or in person. If parts are needed, we install high-quality OEM parts and aim to have most vehicles back to you the same day, with a confirmed turnaround time after the initial inspection.

Where Is the Alternator Located?
The alternator is typically mounted near the front of the engine and secured with brackets. On many vehicles, one bracket is fixed while another is adjustable for drive belt tensioning, though modern vehicles often use a separate automatic tensioner instead. Our technicians locate and access it as part of the standard diagnostic and replacement process.
Why Does the Alternator Matter?
The alternator charges the battery while the engine is running, and the stored charge it builds supports the battery when the engine is off.
