When repairs are recommended after vehicle testing, all work is backed by the Nice Difference Warranty: 3-year/36,000-mile coverage honored at any Christian Brothers Automotive Holly Springs location nationwide. We also work with major extended warranty providers and can confirm your coverage when you schedule.
A Full Diagnostic vs. a Basic Code Scan
A check engine light can be triggered by a wide range of issues, from a loose gas cap to a failing catalytic converter. A parts-store code reader tells you which code is stored. It doesn’t tell you why. Pinpointing the actual cause takes advanced, manufacturer-level equipment and a methodical approach to testing related systems and components.
Because we keep manufacturer diagnostic tools on site, you don’t have to wait on outside resources to get answers. We walk you through the full situation, from what we found to what it can cost to fix, in plain language. We don’t look for the quickest or cheapest patch. We recommend the most thorough and safe repair option for the conditions we find.
Ready to find out what’s really going on with your vehicle? Call (984) 232-6418 or schedule online to bring your car in for a diagnostic in Apex.Your vehicle’s onboard computer continuously monitors sensors across interconnected systems, including the engine, transmission, exhaust, and electrical system. When a sensor detects a reading outside expected parameters, it stores a diagnostic trouble code and, in many cases, triggers a warning light on your dashboard.
That stored code identifies which system flagged a problem, but it doesn’t confirm the root cause. Two vehicles with the same code can have entirely different underlying issues. Testing the related components and systems connected to that code is what separates a real diagnosis from a guess. That’s the difference between reading a code and understanding what it means for your specific vehicle.

FAQs
-
Q. "What does a vehicle test do?"
Today’s vehicles are more advanced than ever. They’re essentially computers on wheels, with complex systems controlling everything from performance and safety to comfort and efficiency. When a warning light comes on or something feels off, our testing process takes a deep dive into these systems to identify the real issue, not just a surface-level code. This thorough approach goes far beyond a quick parts-store scan and helps ensure repairs are accurate, effective, and long-lasting.
-
Q. "How long does a vehicle test take?"We believe in doing things right, not rushing through them. While some tests can be completed quickly, others take more time, depending on the concern. Our priority is accuracy, so you can feel confident in the results and the next steps. We’ll always keep you informed along the way, giving you peace of mind on the road to the people and places that matter most.
