What to Expect During Power Steering Service
We begin by listening to what you’ve noticed, such as steering difficulty, fluid concerns, or noise while turning. A complimentary inspection allows our certified technicians to assess the power steering system and determine whether a flush or repair is appropriate.
After the assessment, we explain your vehicle’s needs in clear language without unnecessary technical jargon. We don’t alter your vehicle until you’ve reviewed the recommendation and signed off on the work.
Owner/operators are on-site to answer questions and provide accountability. Before service begins, you’ll know what we recommend and why.

Whether scheduling online or over the phone be sure and let us know what you're experiencing so we can provide fast and accurate service advice.

Following the diagnosis we will text you a digital vehicle inspection report, containing pictures and videos of our findings and recommendations.
4. Review and Approval
A service advisor will reach out to walk you through the findings and recommendations to determine how you would like to proceed, or you can approve work directly in your DVI.

Warning Signs for Brake Service
When to Schedule a Power Steering Assessment
Request an appointment if steering feels heavier than usual, you’ve noticed fluid loss, or you suspect a power steering belt or pump problem. We can assess the system, explain our findings, and recommend the appropriate service for your vehicle.
Power Steering Warning Signs to Watch For
In vehicles equipped with hydraulic power steering, power steering fluid transmits the hydraulic assistance that reduces steering effort. Fluid can degrade or become contaminated over time. A full power steering fluid flush may be appropriate when the system’s condition indicates that service is needed.
Changes in Steering Response
Steering that feels heavier, inconsistent, or noticeably different deserves professional assessment. As steering assistance worsens, parking and low-speed turns can become more difficult.
Fluid Around the System
Visible fluid loss or a low fluid level can indicate a concern that requires inspection. Adding fluid alone doesn’t explain why the level changed or whether another service is appropriate.
Sounds While Turning
Unusual sounds during turns may be related to the hydraulic system, but the symptom alone doesn’t identify the cause. The power steering pump and power steering belt work together in hydraulic systems, so an assessment is necessary before selecting repair options.

Q. "How do I know if my power steering is starting to fail?"3 common signs are that your wheel is requiring more force to turn, whining noise when turning, or your steering shakes when idle. If you are worried about your power steering failing, contact your local Christian Brothers today to have our experienced technicians take a look.
-
Q. "How often do I need to get my power steering fluid replaced?"The average recommendation is between 40,000 and 80,000 miles, but it varies depending on your manufacturer's recommendations.
-
Q. "Why do I need to change my power steering fluid?"With time, the power steering fluid in your vehicle loses its potency and can become contaminated. Fluid with foreign materials and dirt floating around in it is less efficient, meaning the pump works harder and is worn down faster. Putting new fluid in is much more cost-effective than buying a new pump.
