Our Power Steering Service Process
Your description of the problem gives our technicians a useful starting point. Tell us whether the steering difficulty, noise, vibration, or fluid loss happens during low-speed turns, at startup, or under other conditions.
From inspection to service, the process includes:
- Inspect and Diagnose: We assess the reported symptom, check the fluid and possible leaks, and examine the power steering belt, power steering pump, and related components.
- Review Digital Findings: You receive a digital vehicle inspection report with available photos and videos. We explain whether the findings support a full power steering fluid flush, component repair, or another recommendation.
- Approve the Service: You decide whether to proceed after reviewing our recommendations. After approval, we perform or schedule the work.

5. Work Performed or Scheduled
Most work can be completed immediately, or scheduled based on parts and customer availability.
The Correct Power Steering Fluid Matters
In hydraulic steering systems, power steering fluid transmits the pressure used for steering assistance. Low, contaminated, or degraded fluid can contribute to increased steering effort or noise, although those symptoms can also come from a leak or component problem.
Our fluid procedure uses BG power steering system cleaners and BG power steering fluid. Replacement fluid must meet the manufacturer’s standards rather than relying on a one-fluid-fits-all approach.
What Your Power Steering Symptoms May Mean
Steering symptoms provide useful clues, but they don’t confirm the cause. The guidance below explains when to arrange an inspection and how fluid service differs from mechanical repair.
Signs Your Power Steering System Needs Attention
Arrange an inspection if turning requires more effort, steering feels inconsistent, the wheel vibrates, or you hear whining or squealing during turns. Fluid beneath the vehicle also warrants attention, especially when the level continues to drop.
Adding fluid isn’t a complete repair when the system is leaking or steering remains difficult. If steering control changes suddenly or becomes substantially harder, have the vehicle assessed before continuing to drive.

Power Steering Fluid, Leaks, & Repair Decisions
The correct service depends on what the inspection reveals. Fluid condition, leaks, belt operation, pump condition, and the vehicle’s requirements all affect the recommendation.
Fluid Flush vs. Power Steering Repair
A full power steering fluid flush cleans the system and replaces old fluid with compatible fluid. It addresses fluid condition, not a failed component. A repair addresses a confirmed problem such as a leak, damaged power steering belt, failing power steering pump, or another affected component. If both fluid and mechanical concerns are present, we explain each recommendation before work begins.
Choosing the Correct Power Steering Fluid
Drivers shouldn’t assume every hydraulic steering system uses the same fluid. Replacement fluid should meet the manufacturer’s standards for the specific vehicle, using the vehicle requirements as the guide for the appropriate BG power steering fluid and cleaning procedure.
Why Inspection Comes Before Repair
A whining noise can relate to low or degraded fluid, a leak, or a component concern. Increased steering effort and steering-wheel vibration can also have more than one possible source. Our technicians distinguish a fluid concern from a belt, pump, leak, or related steering problem so we can present repair options based on observed findings instead of guesswork.

Q. "How often do I need to get my power steering fluid replaced?"The average recommendation is between 40,000 and 80,000 miles, but it varies depending on your manufacturer's recommendations.
-
Q. "Why do I need to change my power steering fluid?"With time, the power steering fluid in your vehicle loses its potency and can become contaminated.
