A Car Repair Warranty That Can Last Beyond Graduation? A Guide for UCF Drivers

| By: Christian Brothers Automotive

College students often keep a car through several semesters, moves, internships, and trips home. When that car needs a repair, it helps to understand what protection comes with the work. At Christian Brothers Automotive Alafaya, qualifying repairs are backed by the Nice Difference® Warranty: three years or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs last.

Could the warranty really last beyond graduation?

Possibly. The standard warranty period does not end until the later of three years after the repair or 36,000 miles driven since that repair. Imagine a UCF student has an eligible repair during sophomore year and drives just 18,000 miles over the next four years. The repair may still be within the coverage period because the mileage limit has not been reached. Whether a specific problem qualifies depends on the repair and written terms.

What about a student who drives a lot?

Some students commute from farther across Orlando, work off campus, or travel home frequently. Suppose an eligible repair is completed and the driver logs 40,000 miles in two years. Because three years have not yet passed, the standard coverage period remains open. The same warranty structure can be useful for both low-mileage students and high-mileage commuters.

What exactly does the warranty protect?

The Nice Difference® Warranty is a limited parts-and-labor warranty on qualifying repairs. Covered categories may include brakes, cooling systems, air conditioning, steering and suspension, electrical repairs, and starting or charging systems. It addresses eligible defects connected to covered new parts or installation, not every issue that develops with the vehicle afterward. Your original repair invoice and the official terms determine the scope.

If a parent pays for the repair, who owns the warranty?

This is worth asking before service. The standard warranty is limited to the original purchaser and is not transferable. For families helping a college student pay for repairs, keep the invoice and make sure the service advisor explains how the purchaser is recorded. A change in driver, school address, or ownership can make the paperwork especially important.

What if you move away after UCF?

The warranty can be used through the nationwide Christian Brothers Automotive network when the claims process is followed. If you are within 25 miles of the original Alafaya location, return there for warranty service. If you are farther away, contact the original shop about another Christian Brothers location. If none is within 25 miles, contact the warranty administrator at 1-833-863-0014 before authorizing outside repairs. Prior authorization is required.

Are batteries and routine maintenance included?

No. The standard Nice Difference® Warranty excludes batteries, tires, routine preventive maintenance, and normal wear. Certain major internal engine and transmission repairs are excluded as well. A separate product or manufacturer warranty may apply in some cases, so ask which written coverage applies to the specific work.

What should students keep in their glove box or phone?

Keep a digital copy of the original invoice, including the repair date and odometer reading. If a problem appears, write down the symptoms and call the original shop before arranging corrective repairs elsewhere. Clear records are especially useful if the vehicle is far from campus or a parent is helping coordinate service.
