Frequently Asked Questions
How Do I Know If My Transmission Really Needs to Be Replaced?
We recommend a full transmission replacement after careful diagnosis of the transmission and related components. If the problem is limited to a specific part or system, we discuss repair options first. Replacement may be recommended when internal damage is extensive, repeated repairs aren’t practical, or safety and reliability could be compromised.
Is It Safe to Keep Driving If My Car Is Slipping Between Gears?
Driving a vehicle that is slipping between gears can affect how predictably it accelerates and may cause additional damage. If you notice slipping, we encourage you to contact us as soon as you can. When you call us, we can talk through what you’re experiencing and help you decide whether it’s safer to drive to the shop or take another step.
Can You Give Me an Estimate Before Starting Any Transmission Repair?
Yes, we provide a clear estimate after our technicians have evaluated your vehicle. We review the recommended work and associated costs with you before moving forward. No repair work begins until you have approved the plan.
How Long Do Transmission Repairs or Replacement Usually Take?
The time needed for transmission work depends on the service, vehicle, parts availability, and complexity of the work. After diagnosing the issue, we provide an estimated timeframe along with your estimate. We keep you updated if conditions change, and our complimentary shuttle service can help reduce the impact on your day while your vehicle is in the shop.
What Kind of Warranty Do You Offer on Transmission Work?
We back our transmission work with an industry-leading warranty. Specific terms can vary based on the type of service and parts used. We explain how the warranty applies to the recommended services when we review your estimate.
Do I Need an Appointment for Transmission Diagnostics, or Can I Just Stop By?
We recommend making an appointment for transmission diagnostics so we can reserve proper time and resources to evaluate your vehicle. If you experience a new noise, slipping, or another urgent concern, you can call us to discuss what’s happening. We can let you know whether it’s safe to drive the vehicle to the shop and how we can accommodate you.
Will You Explain My Options in Terms I Can Understand?
Yes, clear communication is a core part of how we serve our guests. When we review our findings, we use everyday language and outline your options where they exist. We answer your questions before you approve any work.

FAQs
-
Q. "What factors determine the price of transmission repair?"Many different factors go into determining costs of transmission repair. The major factor is what type of vehicle you drive. The year, make and model of the car, determine how much parts and labor will cost. Another factor is how much damage the transmission has sustained. Your transmission should last a minimum of 100,000 miles by servicing your transmission on a regular basis.
-
Q. "What does automatic transmission service include?"Fluid is first drained from the pan during an automatic transmission service. A new transmission filter is installed with a new pan gasket once the pan has been removed. Finally, fresh automatic transmission fluid (ATF) is used to refill the vehicle.
-
Q. "Is there a difference between a transmission fluid change and flush?"During a transmission fluid and filter change, it’s only the fluid in the pan that is drained and replaced with new ATF. Four to five quarts of fluid will typically be replaced in this process, while nine to thirteen quarts are replaced during a full transmission fluid flush. The difference in amounts is because the complete flush drains the entire system.
