Frequently Asked Questions
What Are the Most Common Transmission Issues?
Common transmission issues often involve a lack of lubrication, fluid leaks, gear shifting problems, and worn-out clutch components. Solving these issues early can prevent extensive damage and support the longevity of your vehicle.
How Often Should I Have My Transmission Checked?
Regular transmission checks are helpful every 30,000 to 60,000 miles, depending on your driving conditions and vehicle type. Centennial drivers may benefit from more frequent inspections due to local road and climate conditions.
What Can Affect Transmission Fluid Levels?
Transmission fluid levels might be affected by leaks in the transmission system, the condition of the gaskets, and the age of your transmission. Regular checks can help in maintaining suitable fluid levels and overall system health.
Can Transmission Issues Affect Fuel Efficiency?
Yes, a poorly functioning transmission can lead to increased fuel consumption. Timely maintenance not only enhances vehicle performance but also supports fuel efficiency, which can reduce your vehicle's environmental impact.
Is it better to rebuild or replace a transmission?
A transmission rebuild involves replacing only the worn internal parts, which can be more cost-effective. However, a full transmission replacement might be necessary if the casing is damaged or internal wear is extensive. We provide a clear cost-benefit analysis for both options at our transmission shop, helping you choose the best long-term solution for your budget.

FAQs
-
Q. "What factors determine the price of transmission repair?"Many different factors go into determining costs of transmission repair. The major factor is what type of vehicle you drive. The year, make and model of the car, determine how much parts and labor will cost. Another factor is how much damage the transmission has sustained. Your transmission should last a minimum of 100,000 miles by servicing your transmission on a regular basis.
-
Q. "What does automatic transmission service include?"Fluid is first drained from the pan during an automatic transmission service. A new transmission filter is installed with a new pan gasket once the pan has been removed. Finally, fresh automatic transmission fluid (ATF) is used to refill the vehicle.
-
Q. "Is there a difference between a transmission fluid change and flush?"During a transmission fluid and filter change, it’s only the fluid in the pan that is drained and replaced with new ATF. Four to five quarts of fluid will typically be replaced in this process, while nine to thirteen quarts are replaced during a full transmission fluid flush. The difference in amounts is because the complete flush drains the entire system.
