How Volkswagen Repair Works at Our Shop
We built our process around one goal: no surprises. Here’s what to expect from your first call to driving away.
Step 1: Schedule Your Appointment
Book online or call us directly. When you schedule, note your VW’s concern or the service you need. It helps our team prepare before your vehicle arrives.
Step 2: Drop Off & Inspect
Our technicians perform diagnostics and a full courtesy inspection using the same equipment manufacturers use. We can identify what’s wrong and document it.
Step 3: Review & Approve
You receive a Digital Vehicle Inspection report by text, complete with photos and videos. A service advisor can walk you through the findings. You approve or decline each item: in the DVI report or by phone. Nothing moves forward without your sign-off.
1. Schedule Your Appointment
Whether scheduling online or over the phone be sure and let us know what you're experiencing so we can provide fast and accurate service advice.
2. Diagnostics and Inspections
Drop off your vehicle and the shop will get to work with inspections and diagnostics using the same equipment as the manufacturers to determine issues and next steps.
3. Digital Vehicle Inspection Report and Estimate
Following the diagnosis we will text you a digital vehicle inspection report, containing pictures and videos of our findings and recommendations.
4. Review and Approval
A service advisor will reach out to walk you through the findings and recommendations to determine how you would like to proceed, or you can approve work directly in your DVI.
5. Work Performed or Scheduled
Most work can be completed immediately, or scheduled based on parts and customer availability.
We Show You What We Find
At Christian Brothers Automotive, we explain your vehicle’s needs in plain language: no jargon, no pressure. Our service advisors review every finding with you before any work begins. If a service isn’t needed, we won’t suggest it. What you approve is what we do.
More About Our Volkswagen Services
Engine Diagnostics
Check engine lights on VW vehicles commonly trace back to evaporative emission system faults, oxygen sensors, or ignition coil failures. Our diagnostic equipment reads VW-specific fault codes and helps pinpoint the source so repairs can target the actual problem.
Transmission Service
VW’s DSG dual-clutch transmission can require fluid service at manufacturer-specified intervals that differ from conventional automatic transmission schedules. We handle DSG service and standard automatic transmission maintenance to support smooth gear shifts and help extend transmission life.
Brake & Suspension Service
Brake inspections, pad and rotor service, suspension component checks, and alignment are all within scope. Proper alignment and suspension condition directly affect how a VW handles, particularly on MQB platform vehicles like the Jetta, Golf, and Tiguan, which share a common chassis architecture.
Electrical System Repair
Modern Volkswagen vehicles carry advanced onboard electronics. Our technicians are equipped to diagnose and repair electrical system faults across the VW lineup, from sensor issues to module concerns.
Scheduled Maintenance
Newer VW models use a Longlife service interval system that ties oil change and inspection schedules to driving conditions rather than fixed mileage. Common scheduled items include oil and filter service with VW-specified synthetic oil, cabin and engine air filters, spark plugs, coolant flush, and timing belt or chain service depending on model. We follow manufacturer recommendations to keep your VW’s maintenance record current.
Volkswagen Repair in Minnesota’s Climate
Inver Grove Heights and Eagan sit in Dakota County, where winters bring extended cold, heavy road salt, and freeze-thaw cycles that accelerate wear on brake components, suspension bushings, and undercarriage coatings. VW’s specified low-viscosity synthetic oils, commonly 5W-30 or 0W-20 on many models, though some require 5W-40, matter more at sub-zero cold starts than they do in moderate climates.
Battery performance also degrades in extreme cold. VW owners throughout the Twin Cities metro benefit from battery testing before winter arrives rather than after the first no-start morning. As a locally owned shop in Inver Grove Heights, we understand what Minnesota driving does to a vehicle across a full year, and we factor that into every service recommendation we make.
