Does Your Vehicle Actually Need an Alignment?
Not every handling issue points to alignment. Vibration at highway speed, for example, is often a tire balance problem or a sign of worn components rather than misalignment. Getting an accurate diagnosis first means you’re only paying for what can actually address the problem.
Signs Your Car Alignment Needs Attention
Three symptoms point clearly to misalignment: your vehicle drifts or pulls to one side without input, your steering wheel is off-center when driving straight, or your tires are wearing unevenly or faster than expected. Left uncorrected, poor tire alignment can reduce fuel efficiency and degrade handling over time. Alignment problems don’t always follow a dramatic event either. They can creep in from normal suspension wear or simply from accumulated mileage.

The Four Alignment Angles Explained
A proper wheel alignment corrects up to four distinct angles. Understanding them helps you know what’s actually being adjusted when you bring your vehicle in.
Camber
Camber is the inward or outward tilt of a tire viewed from the front of the vehicle. When camber is off, the tire wears along one edge instead of evenly across the tread.
Toe
Toe describes whether your tires point slightly inward or outward when viewed from above. Even a small toe error can cause rapid tread wear and affect straight-line tracking.
Caster
Caster is the angle of the steering axis viewed from the side. It affects straight-line stability and how the steering wheel returns to center after a turn.
Thrust Angle
Thrust angle measures whether the rear axle is square to the vehicle’s centerline. When it’s off, the vehicle can track to one side even with the front wheels pointed straight ahead.
Choosing the Right Alignment Type
Not every vehicle needs the same service. A basic alignment check identifies whether any angles are outside specification. A front-end alignment addresses the front axle only and suits vehicles with a solid rear axle that isn’t adjustable. A four-wheel alignment corrects all four corners and is often the right choice for most modern vehicles with independent rear suspension. A thrust angle alignment focuses on rear axle positioning relative to the vehicle centerline and is often appropriate for vehicles where rear angles aren’t fully adjustable.
An alignment is also generally recommended any time suspension components such as struts, control arms, or tie rods are replaced, or when a vehicle is raised or lowered. Our technicians assess your specific vehicle and recommend only what it actually needs.
