Frequently Asked Questions
Why is replacing the oil filter so important during an oil change?
The oil filter captures harmful contaminants like dirt and metal particles from your oil. Putting fresh oil into an engine with a dirty, clogged filter would contaminate the new oil almost immediately. A new filter is essential to ensure the new oil stays clean and can properly protect your engine for thousands of miles.
Is synthetic oil really worth the extra cost for driving in Maple Grove, MN?
For most modern vehicles and for driving in Minnesota's climate, yes. Synthetic oil offers superior protection in both extreme cold and high heat, reduces engine sludge, and often allows for longer intervals between oil changes. While it costs more upfront, it can save you money in the long run by providing better engine protection and longevity.
My oil looks dark on the dipstick, only a few weeks after an oil change. Is something wrong?
Not usually. This is a common concern, but it's often a sign the new oil is doing its job. Fresh oil contains detergents that clean away old sludge and deposits from inside your engine, which can cause the new oil to darken quickly. However, if you have any concerns about the color or level, our technicians are always happy to take a quick look for your peace of mind.
