Our Electrical Diagnostic & Approval Process
Electrical symptoms don’t always reveal which component or circuit is responsible. We begin by listening to your concerns, then document our inspection findings for your review and approval.
Here’s what to expect during your visit:
- We listen to your concerns. Tell us what the vehicle is doing, when the symptom appears, and whether it’s intermittent or constant.
- We perform a digital inspection. Our technicians conduct a thorough Digital Vehicle Inspection using the same equipment manufacturers use.
- We document the findings. You receive a report by text with photos and videos from the inspection.
- We review the results. A service advisor discusses the findings with you and answers your questions.
- You authorize the next step. We perform or schedule work only after you approve it.
1. Schedule Your Appointment
Whether scheduling online or over the phone be sure and let us know what you're experiencing so we can provide fast and accurate service advice.
2. Diagnostics and Inspections
Drop off your vehicle and the shop will get to work with inspections and diagnostics using the same equipment as the manufacturers to determine issues and next steps.
3. Digital Vehicle Inspection Report and Estimate
Following the diagnosis we will text you a digital vehicle inspection report, containing pictures and videos of our findings and recommendations.
4. Review and Approval
A service advisor will reach out to walk you through the findings and recommendations to determine how you would like to proceed, or you can approve work directly in your DVI.
5. Work Performed or Scheduled
Most work can be completed immediately, or scheduled based on parts and customer availability.
Warranty Protection & Free Shuttle Service
Qualifying electrical system work is backed by the Nice Difference® Warranty for 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first. Christian Brothers Automotive Celina locations nationwide honor the warranty, regardless of which location completed the original qualifying work.
We also offer Free Shuttle Service. Ask our service advisor about transportation when arranging your visit.
What an Automotive Electrical System Includes
An automotive electrical system extends beyond the battery and alternator. It can include:
- Starting and charging systems
- Wiring, fuses, and relays
- Lighting and power accessories
- Sensors and electronic control modules that manage or monitor vehicle functions
A battery stores electrical power, while the alternator supplies charging power when the engine is running. Faults elsewhere in the system can still produce electrical symptoms when both components are functioning.
Battery, Starter & Alternator Checks
Our Batteries service includes checking electrical connections, battery terminals, cables, and the alternator. Our Alternator and Starter service includes charging-system diagnostics and inspection of battery output voltage, connectors, wiring, belts, pulleys, tensioners, and harness connections.
Because several components can produce similar symptoms, we test the system before discussing the appropriate service with you.
Signs Your Vehicle May Need Electrical Diagnostics
An electrical symptom can have several possible causes and can’t identify a failed part on its own. Testing determines which circuit or component requires attention.
Warning signs that warrant an evaluation include:
- Dim or flickering lights: These may indicate interrupted power delivery or a charging-system concern.
- A repeatedly blown fuse: Replacing the fuse without diagnosing the underlying circuit fault may not resolve the problem.
- Inoperative power accessories: Windows, locks, mirrors, and similar features may be affected by a fuse, switch, wire, connector, relay, motor, or control module.
- Dashboard warning lights: A warning light can reflect a detected fault involving a monitored circuit, sensor, or vehicle system.
Why Electrical Testing Comes Before Component Replacement
Electrical diagnosis traces a concern through the affected circuit rather than assuming the visible symptom identifies the failed part. Depending on the concern, testing can examine the power supply, ground, wiring condition, connectors, fuses, relays, and component operation.
Modern vehicles also rely on sensors and electronic control modules. A warning light or accessory failure may involve a communication or signal fault as well as damaged wiring. Replacing the most obvious component without testing may not address the source.
Texas vehicle equipment standards address lighting and wiring conditions, including worn insulation, exposed wiring, burning, short-circuiting, and poor connections. Evidence of overheating, corrosion, damaged insulation, or a weak connection calls for prompt professional evaluation.

Electrical System Care for Celina-Area Drivers
Texas eliminated its annual passenger-vehicle safety inspection effective January 1, 2025. Most non-commercial passenger vehicles no longer receive state-mandated checks of lights, wiring, and related electrical equipment. That change isn’t a substitute for maintenance or diagnosis when symptoms appear.
Qualifying emissions testing may still be required in certain parts of Texas, and commercial vehicles remain subject to state safety inspection requirements. Regardless of inspection status, wiring with damaged insulation, corrosion, poor connections, or evidence of overheating should receive prompt professional attention.
