How Our Diagnostic Testing Process Works
Our process is straightforward and designed to keep you informed at every step.
Step 1: Describe What You’re Experiencing
When you schedule, we ask you to describe the concern in your own words. That detail helps our team provide fast and accurate service advice before your vehicle even arrives.
Step 2: Testing with the Same Equipment Manufacturers Use
Our certified technicians perform a thorough inspection and diagnostic testing using the same state-of-the-art tools used by manufacturers. This goes well beyond pulling codes. We test the relevant systems to find what’s actually causing the problem.
Step 3: Review Your Digital Vehicle Inspection Report
After testing, we send a Digital Vehicle Inspection (DVI) report directly to your phone by text. It includes photos and videos of our findings along with our recommendations. A service advisor walks you through everything, and you approve or decline any work directly in the report. No pressure, no surprises, no work is ever done without your approval.
1. Schedule Your Appointment
Whether scheduling online or over the phone be sure and let us know what you're experiencing so we can provide fast and accurate service advice.
2. Diagnostics and Inspections
Drop off your vehicle and the shop will get to work with inspections and diagnostics using the same equipment as the manufacturers to determine issues and next steps.
3. Digital Vehicle Inspection Report and Estimate
Following the diagnosis we will text you a digital vehicle inspection report, containing pictures and videos of our findings and recommendations.
4. Review and Approval
A service advisor will reach out to walk you through the findings and recommendations to determine how you would like to proceed, or you can approve work directly in your DVI.
5. Work Performed or Scheduled
Most work can be completed immediately, or scheduled based on parts and customer availability.
You Decide What Happens Next
Once testing is complete, we explain results in plain language and answer your questions before you make any decisions. We don’t move forward until you’ve approved the work. What you see in your Digital Vehicle Inspection (DVI) report is what we found during testing.
Signs Your Vehicle Needs Diagnostic Testing
A dashboard warning light, trouble starting, unexpected stalling, or overheating are all signals worth taking seriously. A single warning light can point to a wide range of issues, from minor sensor faults to significant system failures. Professional testing identifies the root cause rather than treating the symptom, so repairs can address what actually went wrong.
We serve drivers in Broadview Heights, Brecksville, and North Royalton. If your vehicle has a warning light on or something feels off, call (440) 771-1825 to schedule testing at Christian Brothers Automotive Broadview Heights. We’ll walk you through what we find before any decision is made.
Why a Code Reader Isn’t Enough
Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), the codes stored by your vehicle’s onboard diagnostics (OBD-II) system, point to the system that registered a malfunction. They don’t identify the specific part that failed. A vehicle can also store multiple codes over time, and determining which one is driving a current symptom takes professional interpretation, not a single scan. Replacing parts based only on a code reading can risk spending money on components that weren’t the actual cause of the problem.
How Ohio Winters Affect Your Vehicle
Cold-weather driving in this region is hard on batteries, brakes, and tires. Low temperatures frequently expose weak batteries or starting-system problems before they strand a driver. Local road conditions also accelerate wear on suspension and alignment components faster than many drivers expect. When those issues surface as warning lights or drivability concerns, accurate testing helps pinpoint what needs attention so nothing gets missed.

FAQs
-
Q. "What does a vehicle test do?"
Today’s vehicles are more advanced than ever. They’re essentially computers on wheels, with complex systems controlling everything from performance and safety to comfort and efficiency. When a warning light comes on or something feels off, our testing process takes a deep dive into these systems to identify the real issue, not just a surface-level code. This thorough approach goes far beyond a quick parts-store scan and helps ensure repairs are accurate, effective, and long-lasting.
-
Q. "How long does a vehicle test take?"We believe in doing things right, not rushing through them. While some tests can be completed quickly, others take more time, depending on the concern. Our priority is accuracy, so you can feel confident in the results and the next steps. We’ll always keep you informed along the way, giving you peace of mind on the road to the people and places that matter most.
