What We Check During a Tune-Up
A tune-up at our Allen location is a thorough inspection of your vehicle's essential systems. The specific components checked can vary based on your car's make, model, and age, but our service always includes a careful look at the parts that are fundamental to its operation. We want to ensure your vehicle is running as smoothly and efficiently as possible, which is why we focus on these critical areas:
- Spark Plugs and Wires: We inspect the spark plugs for signs of wear and tear and replace them as needed. Worn-out spark plugs can lead to engine misfires, poor fuel economy, and a decrease in power.
- Filters: This includes checking and replacing the air, fuel, and cabin filters. A clean air filter is vital for proper engine combustion, while a new fuel filter ensures clean fuel flows to the engine. The cabin filter keeps the air you breathe inside the car clean.
- Fluids: We check the levels and condition of all vital fluids, including engine oil, transmission fluid, coolant, and power steering fluid. We'll top off or replace fluids that are low or contaminated.
- Ignition System: Our technicians examine the ignition coils and other components of the ignition system to ensure they are functioning correctly and providing a strong spark.
- Belts and Hoses: We visually inspect all engine belts and hoses for cracks, leaks, or fraying. These components are essential for a variety of systems, including the cooling system and power steering.
- Battery and Electrical System: We test the battery’s charge and the overall health of the electrical system, including the alternator and starter, to prevent unexpected starting issues.
