5. Work Performed or Scheduled
Most work can be completed immediately, or scheduled based on parts and customer availability.
Frequently driving your car with little fuel can harm your engine over time because the gasoline at the bottom of your tank is usually the dirtiest. When this part is used for fuel, you run a higher risk of dirt reaching your fuel line and engine.
Frequently Asked Questions
How often does my vehicle need a tune-up?
While older vehicles required a tune-up every 30,000 to 45,000 miles, modern vehicles can often go much longer—sometimes up to 100,000 miles—before needing major component replacements like spark plugs. However, this depends heavily on your specific make, model, and driving habits in Windsor.
We recommend checking your owner's manual for the manufacturer's schedule. However, if you notice a drop in fuel efficiency, rough idling, or difficulty starting, you shouldn't wait for a specific mileage milestone. Our ASE-certified technicians can inspect your engine and recommend a schedule that keeps your car running smoothly.
Why is my "Check Engine" light on?
The Check Engine light is your car's way of telling you something is wrong within its complex systems. It could be something minor, like a loose gas cap, or something serious, like a failing catalytic converter or internal engine issue. Ignoring it can lead to decreased performance and higher repair bills later.
We strongly advise against ignoring this warning light, even if your car seems to be driving normally. Our team uses advanced diagnostic tools to read the code and, more importantly, find the root cause of the alert. We provide a clear explanation so you can make an informed decision about the necessary engine repair.
Does Windsor’s altitude affect my engine?
Yes, Northern Colorado’s altitude can impact engine performance. At higher elevations, the air is thinner, which can affect the air-to-fuel mixture in your combustion chambers. While modern engines adjust for this, they still work harder to produce power compared to sea level, which can increase heat and stress on components.
Additionally, our fluctuating temperatures—from freezing winters to hot summers—put strain on your cooling system, battery, and internal fluids. We tailor our engine maintenance services to account for these local factors, ensuring your vehicle is tuned to handle the elevation and climate changes along I-25 and throughout Weld County.
What is the difference between a rebuilt and a remanufactured engine?
If you need an engine replacement, you might hear these terms. A rebuilt engine involves replacing only the worn-out parts of your current engine, while the rest remains. A remanufactured engine is completely disassembled, cleaned, and machined to factory specifications, with all wear parts replaced with new ones.
At Christian Brothers Automotive Windsor, we generally recommend remanufactured engines for replacements because they offer a higher level of reliability and typically come with stronger warranties. We will walk you through the pros, cons, and costs of each option to help you choose the best solution for your vehicle and budget.
Is my engine repair covered by a warranty?
Absolutely. We believe that high-quality car engine repair should come with peace of mind. That is why we back our work with our industry-leading Nice Difference® Warranty, which covers qualifying parts and labor for 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes last.
This warranty applies nationwide, so whether you are driving around Windsor or on a road trip out of state, you are protected. Before we begin any work, we will explain exactly what is covered, ensuring you feel confident in the investment you are making in your vehicle.
