What to Expect With Engine Services
1. Schedule Your Appointment
Whether scheduling online or over the phone be sure and let us know what you're experiencing so we can provide fast and accurate service advice.
2. Diagnostics and Inspections
Drop off your vehicle and the shop will get to work with inspections and diagnostics using the same equipment as the manufacturers to determine issues and next steps.
3. Digital Vehicle Inspection Report and Estimate
Following the diagnosis we will text you a digital vehicle inspection report, containing pictures and videos of our findings and recommendations.
4. Review and Approval
A service advisor will reach out to walk you through the findings and recommendations to determine how you would like to proceed, or you can approve work directly in your DVI.
5. Work Performed or Scheduled
Most work can be completed immediately, or scheduled based on parts and customer availability.
Frequently driving your car with little fuel can harm your engine over time because the gasoline at the bottom of your tank is usually the dirtiest. When this part is used for fuel, you run a higher risk of dirt reaching your fuel line and engine.
Frequently Asked Questions About Engine Service
How Often Should You Schedule Engine Service?
The best starting point is your vehicle owner's manual. However, factors like Idaho's climate extremes and your personal driving habits (like frequent short trips or towing) might mean you need service more often. We recommend discussing a personalized schedule with our technicians.
What does a "tune-up" include?
A modern tune-up typically involves replacing spark plugs, inspecting ignition components, and checking/replacing air and fuel filters. It helps restore performance and fuel efficiency. Our team can advise if your vehicle is due for this service.
Why is my Check Engine Light on?
This light can indicate anything from a loose gas cap to a serious engine issue. Ignoring it can lead to bigger problems. Our advanced diagnostic tools can quickly read the error code and pinpoint the exact cause.
What causes my engine to make strange noises?
Knocking, ticking, or grinding sounds often signal internal wear, low oil pressure, or failing components. It's crucial to have these noises professionally diagnosed immediately to prevent potentially severe engine damage.
What are the benefits of regular engine maintenance?
Consistent maintenance, like oil changes and inspections, prevents major repairs, extends your engine's life, improves fuel economy, ensures reliability, and helps your vehicle handle Star's demanding climate and driving conditions.
