Did You Know: The older a car battery is, the more susceptible it is to extreme temperature changes.
Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I replace my car battery?
Car batteries typically last between 3 and 5 years, but in Amarillo, extreme temperatures can shorten battery life significantly. We recommend having your battery tested annually after it is three years old. Our technicians can recommend the best care schedule to keep your battery in top shape for roads, ensuring you aren't left stranded.
What are the signs my battery needs replacement?
Common signs your battery is failing include a slow or sluggish engine crank when you start the car, dim headlights (especially at idle), or the battery warning light on your dashboard. You might also notice electrical issues like slow power windows. If you notice these issues, visit our location for a full check-up immediately to avoid a breakdown.
Do you offer a warranty on battery replacements?
Yes! Most of our battery replacements are covered by the Nice Difference® Warranty—3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes last. This protection shows our commitment to quality and helps you feel secure about your car battery investment. If you ever have an issue, we stand ready to offer support and prompt solutions for minimal disruption.
What type of batteries do you offer?
We carry a wide selection of high-quality batteries for many types of vehicles, including standard flooded batteries and advanced AGMs (Absorbent Glass Mat) for modern cars with high electrical demands. Each battery meets manufacturer guidelines and is chosen for its durability in Amarillo's tough conditions. We help you match the right battery to your vehicle and budget.
Can I just jump-start my car and keep driving?
If your battery is dead, a jump-start might get you home, but it is not a permanent fix. If the battery is old or damaged, it will likely fail again soon, potentially damaging your alternator. It is best to bring your vehicle to us for a professional battery test to determine if it just needs a recharge or a full replacement.

FAQs
-
Q. "How long can a car sit before the battery dies?"The battery in your car can die within as little as two weeks when unused. While our cars are more technologically advanced than ever, this comes at a cost. Due to the various gadgets and computer technology manufacturers include in our vehicles, the newest models coming off the line are always on, continually monitoring the car’s systems around the clock.
-
Q. "Does the temperature affect my vehicle's battery?"Hot and cold temperatures can ruin your battery, especially if it’s already weak. Most customers in warm, southern climates don’t realize that hot weather drains their batteries. On the other hand, cold temperatures slow down chemical reactions, which means that your car battery will become sluggish and appear to be far lower than it actually is. Most modern batteries are designed to deliver an abundance of power at what is considered a “cold crank” temperature, but older batteries or batteries which are further into their lifespan may even fail to start your car on a particularly frigid and frosty morning.

"Why do car batteries fail?"The answer to this popular question includes many different reasons, ranging from age, corrosion, alternator problems, extreme weather conditions, or the classic case of headlights being left on.
