This job must be done, despite any external factors. In rain, snow and dust, your car must stop efficiently. This is not a small task.
Considering all your brakes go through, it’s nice to know they’re in great condition with a free inspection from our Shawnee shop.
That’s why our ASE-certified technicians ensure every guest completely understands the components and service requirements of their vehicle’s brake system. At Christian Brothers Automotive Shawnee, we keep you safe on every drive. To help, here are a few pieces of the car’s system you may not know.
The brake system includes many parts
- Brake pads
- Brake booster
- Wheel cylinders
- Brake shoes
- Master cylinder
- Brake fluid
Without brake fluid, the hydraulic and fluid-containing parts may fail, seize or break. These parts work together to stop your vehicle from moving when the brake pedal is applied.
To keep your car running efficiently, every aspect of the brake system must be working together. When your brakes and fluids are checked with every oil change, our experts can make sure all pieces are in working order.
Brake pads are essential to the system’s function
To effectively stop a speeding vehicle, the brake pads need to be at least 3mm (or 4mm on some cars). If the brake pads have worn down thinner than this, or they’re cracked, our knowledgeable technicians may suggest a brake pad replacement.
When the brake pads are replaced, your rotors and brake drums need to be resurfaced (or turned). If the brake pads or brake shoes are replaced and the rotors and brake drums are not resurfaced, you will notice unfavorable vibrations while braking. This can cause abnormal or uneven brake pad and brake shoe wear.
Our friendly staff goes above and beyond to keep our guests safe and satisfied. We don’t want you putting any more money into the vehicle than necessary. That’s why we use high-quality parts, employ ASE-certified master technicians, and back our services with the 2-year/24,000-mile Nice Difference Warranty.
