How to Drive Safe in Foggy Weather

How to Drive Safe in Foggy Weather

| By:

When it comes to winter driving, most people tend to think about driving in the snow. But these aren't the only obstacles that drivers can come across during these months. Dense fog is another example of winter weather that can make driving tough. Even if fog isn't expected in Fort Worth, you may see it as you travel during the holidays. Because of this, you want to make sure that you are prepared if you encounter fog while you are driving.

Christian Brothers has little advice to help you prepare. Follow the steps below anytime you drive in the fog:

  • Make sure you leave additional space between your car and the car in front of you. This will help you react to any sudden stopping, quick turns, or other unexpected events.
  • Before you leave, make sure you check the weather forecast. Give yourself more time to get where you need to go if fog is expected.
  • Watch the lines on the right of the road. This will give you an indication of the way the road is turning.
  • Find your vehicle's fog lights. These are designed to improve visibility when you are driving in the fog. If you do not have fog lights, try using low beams in this weather.
  • Drive with extra caution. This is not the time to speed or drive aggressively. Pull your vehicle over and turn on your hazard lights if conditions become unbearable.

We appreciate you taking the time to read a few of these safety tips. We hope everyone in the Fort Worth community has a safe holiday season.
